Did you see who Oilers iced last night? When Stetcher is your best Dman you can add any type if top 4 D .

I get that it's an upgrade in that sense. Just seems like they could have used more of a steadying presence type guy. I don't know, usually doesn't hurt to upgrade your top 4, just not the type of Dman upon whom I would have expected Edmonton to spend a first.

He was able to add Talbot, Kane and Tarasenko on July 1st for free
Is that supposed to be a flex?

Fellow Wings fans keep saying Walman was a cancer and the Wings had to pay to get rid of him..... I don't know. Looks like Y screwed that one up.
Only thing I’ve ever read was a miscommunication on his injury and how able he was to tough it out and play.

Terrible move for the Oilers when they could have used the 1st for a goaltender.
What goaltender though? A partner for Nurse has been a huge issue for us this year. Now we filled that hole, and it's not a rental. I think if no goalies are out there, this was a fine deal.

Brandon Carlo would have made more sense for EDM
If available, this might be true. I was also high on Jamie Oleksiak as the target.

Edmonton only had one puck mover before this trade, and that guy hasn't had a great year. This gives Edmonton somebody who can push Bouchard too, or even replace him on the powerplay if he is struggling for a night. The Oilers are pretty good at suppressing chances. Moving the puck from the blueline has been an issue.

Not a flex but just showing the bigger picture.
You don't have to 'win' every deal you make. The cap space saved by DET allowed them to fill bigger holes which has them only 1pt out of a playoffs spot at the moment.

Yeah the Oilers like to 'defend' by keeping possession and it makes sense to prioritize getting the puck to their offense, especially the top 2 lines. I like the type of player they went after, but obviously was hoping for a right side. There just weren't good ones available.

Have those been good players for DET?
