Meh - I don't like the AAV. I question his desire to win a team game.

Leon, I hope you enjoy playing with Yamamotos the rest of your career and watching teams with depth win the cups.

The curse of having two of the best players in the world is we can't afford depth which is what wins championships. This isn't basketball.
Are you okay?

Are you? You’re the ones who’s been beating the same drum for weeks lol. I make one comment and you attempt to flame me and gaslight me now lol. You need new material. Maybe you can hang out with Cavonin and Keith and see who jumps first.
You made many posts with the same comment.
I had discussions with reasoning. There is a difference. I think youvare missing an " o" in the middle of your name.
14 million, I'll live with, glad to see Leon stay.

It's beyond baffling to still be reading posts that basically say the contract hurts the Oilers chances of winning anything based on some arbitrary number people were convinced was what Draisaitl's salary should have been.

Never in doubt Leon was gonna stay and I'm happy to see it officially inked. Next up are Bouch and McDavid.
Haters can suck a f***ing dick with their (even more wrong) Draisaitl will leave Edmonton narratives

It looked a bit much at first glance but %of cap is the important number and when this kicks in it will be right about the same as his previous deal was when it kickedin. I think this age’s quite well too. We’ve already seen what he can do with one leg, one arm and rib cage smashed up. As he loses a step he has the high level mind to adapt. Maybe he has to play wing full time in a few years but I think we can live with that.

As an oilers fan that lived through the days where you knew something like this wasn’t possible. I’d have to say this feels one hell of a lot better. I think I prefer convincing myself that this contract ages wells as opposed the super star leaving town isn’t going to hurt us that much. Once we have McD locked up I think we can finally leave those ghosts in the past.

"I would have been happy at $13.5, but $14 means we have no depth and it means Leon doesn't want to win!!!"

Like what?

Out of everything you could possibly complain about, this is your take? Seriously?
When the hell did the likes of Skinner or Arvidsson suddenly turn into the 'Yamamotos.'

well yeah....paying a 36 year old 14 mil isn't ideal but that's a problem down the road
bottom line here: pay your stars, especially elite ones

I'm ecstatic he's willing to be an Oiler for life
Smart GMs sign Duncan Keiths to long contracts and say they'll eventually find a sucker to take them at the back end.

As good as Drai is, not everyone becomes better after 30. I do hope Drai ages well like Lebron James tho. Both play a similar type game and are built like an ox
What lol.

Look at Thornton and Kopitar into their late 30s, the early career Drai comparables, until he turned into a mix of Thornton and Ovechkin during his career. Plenty of other guys playing well late in their 30s too. Nowadays players in all sports seem to playing well deeper into their 30s. Drai should be a top player at least into his mid 30s I'd think which would cover most of the contract.
