Strome is over a year younger than Spooner. Signed through next season as well, but is an RFA after that, not a UFA like Spooner was going to be.

I like the move if it means Lettieri or McLeod sitting.

I'd play McLeod and Glass over Spooner 100 times out of 100

It's probably partly that, but I bet it's more just a change of scenery move. Plus Strome is probably a bit easier to move since his cap hit is 900k less.

He’s a bust he is. Not sure what happened to him cause he actually has an awesome rookie season but he’s been garbage since. However I do think he can center a 4th line.

I don’t think Strome is going to break out or anything, but I’d rather give him the chance to do so than Spooner.

Was thinking this all last night during Lias shifts. He just has no one with him. His shifts went nowhere with the other two bums on his wings. I know Strome is a center but I am sure he can play the wing just fine on the 4th line. Not like we would be ask him to play 1st line RW big minutes. Strome is slow but Lias doesn't really play a fast game himself.

I know someone will pop up with "why not recall Fogarty to play 4th line C" and like, maybe, but they still have designs on trying to win and there's already a crapton of youth and thats generally not how things work in the NHL.

I've wondered why they haven't gotten a waiver wire C for a while now, teams generally want 6 guys who can flex to C on the roster and this team has had 5 and sometimes 4 for a while now.

Lias-Strome-Lettieri is the line I'd go with for now.

Strome is more natural at center and is a playmaker.

I think if everyone looks at it like we got picked up Strome off waivers and waived Spooner they'd be a lot happier for some reason
