They desperately need him especially if Nurse is traded so they had no choice and very little leverage.
Price is fine but term is too long. Can’t blame Bowman though as he knows he’s probably on his last year and needs to win. It will be someone else’s problem to clean up.

He looked the part of a sturdy middle pair shutdown D who just got underrated being stuck on bad Chicago teams for too long.

His issue is health. And it's a five year deal for a 33 year old. Win now teams overpay on term to bring down the AAV. It makes sense for where the Oilers are at.
