As a chicago blackhawks fan , yes Kubalik is being pursued by edmonton. MAF is rumored to be moved but even if Chicago eats half his salary that team would still need to move out significant salary that's why edmonton doesn't make sense with their own cap space and limited pieces to dump ..

This trade would set the Oilers back further in every season after this one way more than it would benefit us this season.

We aren't a Fleury away from winning it all sadly. We need more defensive presence on the backend.
McDavid and Leon will grow tired of losing and leave .

Folks probably shunning Seravalli after he was a douche and ruined Seattle's ED show.
Not random folks, but maybe the league sources. The NHL told TSN and Sportsnet insiders not to ruin anything in the expansion draft which they didn't, but Frank had just started at DFO, and wanted to boost his stock. Frank has solid sources, particular on the agent and team side, but knowing what we know about Bettman, hard to imagine he was thrilled with Frank ruining the surprises.

Kubalik isn't a goalie. He is a forward, who chicago snagged from the Russian league and was up for Calder trophy award last year with 30 plus goals ...
I know who Kubalik is, heh. The Oilers need a goalie more than anything right now. Kubalik doesn't make much sense on his own after the Kane signing.

Acquiring a forward when your team is dying for a goalie seems like a Holland move. Then again, after watching Mike Smith last night, Kubalik might be an improvement in net.

It doesn't matter how many goals they score on you if you score one more on them.

Big brain move.

Okay well it came across like you didn't know, however Kubalik is also good defensively and a serious contender needs 4 solid lines that all m contribute. As far as goalie I don't see how edmonton being so close to the cap can bring in a veteran goalie without moving out significant cap, space .

There was some sort of rumors like a month or more ago from a euro source. None of the main stream guys ever touched on it here then and they still haven't.

Everyone know it's dollars in and dollars out, so how are we taking 3.7mil? Especially when we have larger needs

While nobody would disagree with dollars in and dollars out. A vast majority of these writers have no clue regarding how to maneuver money and the conversations being discussed. They merely write opinions with little facts.

Edmonton started out great but they have struggled with scoring and stopping the puck.

Our scoring isn't an issue with Woodcroft and I guess you'd have to say Kane too. We are 4 gpg the past 7 with the lowest being two games of 3.

The stopping of pucks is the issue and in the game against the Wild turnovers didn't help either.

I didn't realize this was an older rumor. Fair. Maybe the best we can glean from this is that Holland might have negotiated for Kubalik before Kane was signed, and might circle back again in the off season when Kane leaves. This bears noting at least. Could be a future deal whose groundwork was laid in December.

He was a 7th round pick of the Kings back in 2013 that STAN BOWMAN acquired for a 5th rounder…he’s Czech and was playing in the Swiss league actually…scored 30 goals in 68 games in the shortened 2019-20 season and had another 8pts in 9 games of bubble hockey…was a Calder finalist and named to the all rookie team…scored 21 goals in the 56 games 2020-21 season and this year has only 10 goals in 52 games…he’s a pending RFA that will require a $4 million qualifier this summer…thus the need to move

Love Kubaliks’ game but unless he signs another two year deal at $3 million per for lesser production this year I can’t see Chicago qualifying him…and I don’t want to see another player leave like Duclair, Koekkoek, Kampf and Suter by not qualifying
