It's only null for the rest of the contract if it got waived before the NMC kicked in

Not official yet and when it is I am extremely worried about it being anything but a one for one no retention.

I believe Lucic as he is actually is better than Neal for what he is.

However. Just getting Lucic off the team is a blessing and hopefully Neal has some chemistry on the Oilers.

I can see Neal being a better compliment to our top 6 than Lucic.

But make no mistake both suck. Both are old. Both are slow.

That would be a tough pill to swallow imo. I am fine with retention assuming it is just evening out the money. But making our cap situation worse for a guy who ultimately was just as bad as Lucic this past season I'm not at all a fan of.

Once they waive it the team has the option of honouring it, but if we refuse to honour it he could of course have refused to come to us.

Nope, they agreed to take it. In Subbans case otherhand Montreal traded him before it came into effect and wasn't agreed with Preds, so it was excluded from the contract.
