Edler for Sergachev++ would give us great defensive prospect depth.

Juolevi
Sergachev
Hutton
Tryamkin
Stetcher
Subban

Yeah but no big thanks to Serg i dont think hes what some people say he could be theres a reason he dropped way to 9 and was obvi Montreal was to take a dman but the huge mistake was not taking mcavoy bean or fabbro

shake my head smh smh... I wouldnt do beaulieu for edeler straight up. Hes an aging player with not much offensive upside. On most teams (aside Van), hes at best a top 4 pairing, preferably #4. No way habs do beaulieu for him, NO way.
I would give beaulieu one full year of him paired up with Weber, to mentor him, and see how he performs then re-assess his skillset and potential, cuz so far, he has had zero chances to prove himself with therrien.
For all i know he might just break-out.
As for sergechev, dont even get me started, just dont. Sergechev, the reason subban was expandable, for who??? Edler?? ahhahahahah ok dream on, nuck fans. I wouldnt do sergechev for any of your players or prospects to be honest.
I would only offer hudon, reway, carr or some other pieces for him, but tbh, i dont want edler. Habs need a player like fowler or shattenkirk.

Why Van's fans say Sergachev dropped to 9??

Where was he supposed to be picked??

What's the price for Edler to MTL? I'd be willing to move futures or a young LHD like Beaulieu for him. We're trying to contend now and it looks like Vancouver is trying to retool/get younger, Edler to MTL makes alot of sense.

Vancouver isn't rebuilding

Rebuilding teams don't sign 6 year 36 million dollar deals for top 6 forwards

They don't trade top prospects for d men

Rebuilding teams have to start by tearing it down Vancouver isn't tearing anything down

Why are we going to throw way assets on a 30 yr old player who can't play a whole season?
Fowler should be the main target.

For what reason?
because most here are simply unrealistic and most trades that have happened the past 2 years are MILES away from what's been proposed ANYWHERE on here.
NO Sergachev won't be included

McCarron is a developing prospect(and a huge one at that) and very close to "the show". His upside and ceiling are about on par for the diminished skills and abilities of Edler. Not even looking at the cap space available, I'm not sure if MTL even has the space to take on all of Edler's contract, therefore we would have to realistically take salary back.
Emelin? DD?

Edler/Weber looks like a decent top pairing.

I truly like McCarron upside and believe he could turn into the big scoring forward that Benning is looking for.

Ya, I think Kane could be great but McCarron would be perfect for the team moving forward. Still has 2 years of an entry contract, shown promise and success in minors and has done a decent job on faceoffs. Basically the characteristics that Benning was seeing in Pierre-Luc Dubois

So ya, that's why I would do Edler for MM straight up....

Both of our GM's seem to be wildly unpredictable so I would be super curious as to how they would tweek the trade

Fowler with his nice little MCL sprain has suddenly made him available for trades.....buyer beware on that one...

Shattenkirk has had his share of bumps and bruises too including his abdominal problems that made him miss alot of time....not to mention you still need to sign him to $7+ next year

But the bolded is not true.

Edler has played the best two seasons of his career. He's a top pairing D in his prime, who is also signed to an excellent contract.

Those return far more than prospects of McCarron's ilk.

You'd be expecting a "blue chip" prospect plus, or a (expected) high pick and a package of lesser prospects.

Not a guy who projects as a physical middle 6er who has yet to establish himself as an NHLer and will soon require waivers.

That's selling low.

You seem to be using the same logic that's caused Benning to lose nearly every trade he's made.

At best top 4 - please don't post opinions when you obviously have never watched Edler play - or have zero understanding of the sport. You make youself look bad/ignorant.

Totally right. A 30 year old defender that can't play all 82 games? Garbage. Especially since Subban was traded for a player matching that exact description.

Must be useless too eh?

Most Habs fans will agree we have absolutely zero interest in trading for Edler. Zero.

And thats why that team is going in last seasons direction FAST

Brutal team

Haha So edler is the difference between being a brutal team and not? Remind me again where Vancouver finished last year with Edler as a top pairing guy for most of the year?

To be fair, the team was in the playoff picture until Edler was injured.

I've never seen the Canucks play decline so drastically with a player out as I did with Edler last season, not even when a Sedin has been out—the D was a tire fire.
