I'm going to agree with the opinion that if not for Buddy Robinson KO'ing the Penguins, we would probably still be calling for Paul Maurice's head.

But that's in an alternate reality. In this reality, the Panthers squeaked into the playoffs by one point, Sergei Bobrovsky is playing the best hockey of his life, and Paul Maurice has now outcoached Montgomery and Keefe (IMO) in two playoff series the Panthers were supposed to lose.

There is a 100% chance Paul Maurice will be the coach next season, and he should be. The team has made it to the Eastern Conference Finals after knocking off the team that had the best regular season and a Toronto club that I personally felt was the best team left.

All joking and bullshit making fun of the Leafs aside, Toronto is a good team that presents serious matchup problems for the Panthers. They were flat out better during the season series. Florida just beat them in five games, and it's not like they were fluke blowouts. Both teams got good goaltending, and it was actually Toronto that got most of the puck luck bounces in the series (puck off the ref, own goals, etc.).

I think Carolina also matches up very well with the Panthers and should be a VERY tough opponent, but let's be perfectly honest: we all saw that Devils team for what it was during the season, a bunch of soft ass p***yes playing fast break hockey. They squeaked by a mediocre Rangers team on the back of a hot performance by Schmid, and the moment he cooled off they got obliterated.

Just enjoy the ride. I think these guys can maybe pull it off.
I could be wrong but the Rangers had our number this year.

The Rangers won the season series 3-0. Two of those games were complete goaltending meltdowns (Bobrovsky and Lyon were like a combined .810) and the third one was damn close. The Panthers have been playing a lot better since those meetings.

I would have liked our chances vs either NYR or NJD.

If anyone isn't reading the Stanley Cup forum, now is a really good time.

We broke them.

Your team is breaking everyone
And hopefully continue to break everyone and win it all.

Carolina is a different monster completely but you have earned complete respect of everyone watching. Anyone being salty about your game probably watches hockey part time.

GUDAS epic screen. Epic! That's championship material.

Well done.

PoMo was right about the playing playoff hockey thing. Refs call things waaaay tighter in the playoffs. The Panthers style is no bueno for the regular season but 100% what good playoff teams do. Something like:

is probably a penalty in game 28 of the season but not now. Hockey is truly 2 different sports, playoffs and regular season and the regular season doesn't matter as long as you get in.

Of course he was right. If he was wrong we probably would’ve looked much better in last year’s playoffs. There was also an adjustment this team had to make - they played 92 games last year + some the year before thinking they could score and rush their way out of everything, takes time to learn that’s not how it’s gonna happen.

I think a lot of fans just wanted to have a reason shit on him and while there’s certainly reasons for them to do that (his love affairs with the Staals being one), I think we can all at least agree that he’s been preaching this from the start.

Didn’t even see the pad get pushed in last night. Lol. This view just makes it end of story, sorry Leafs.

Biz is still upset lmao

This one makes it pretty obvious Bob’s pad was also pushed:

a part of me wanted that shit to be a legit goal waived off for some bullshit as has happened to us. It's happened so many times that if we win the next 8 games from bullshit, it STILL wouldn't cover what we've been through.

but they're crying over still frames. amazing.

Let's call it even with the Colton Orr tackle goal on Clemmenson.

Ah! Never seen that angle before. You are right, even if the puck was over the line before the whistle, it still would not have counted. Reilly never actually touched the puck there, but rather only the pad and pushed it in over the line = goalie interference.

Comeing Home from work still feeling good, who cares about sleeping.
Still feeling good, feels good, i always get a smile thinking about and watching the replay.

The feeling is still their, you are great Guys. The Years of System Coaches and GM we saw and now Conference Finals. We a growing from Year to Year.

Roller coaster of a season for sure.

How was the Pork and would be interisting what kind of Smoker you use.

The problem with that angle is that it's not a good one for determining if the puck is over the line. The line is painted underneath the ice, not on the surface of it.
