They are geared to be an offense first team, so they will really try to force things. While the Panthers style has been to forecheck hard, hang back, and wait for the other team to make a mistake. Additionally, PoMo made a comment about the officiating. so likely the ref's back off a little for this game. NHL handed TML a B2B powerplay to start game 1, basically trying to hand them a goal. They did the same thing for Edmonton last night, the NHL wants to see a Canadian team go far in this playoff.

The calls were warranted. Anyone who thinks the PP opportunities should be even don't know hockey.

Honestly Tavares or Matthews should square up and go Tkachuk right off the opening faceoff. I think Jumbo Joe Thornton did that off the opening faceoff in a playoff series with the Sharks many years back. Just send a message, and get the crowd fired up.

Losing two home games in a best of seven series as a favorite is a usually a pretty dire situation. I would hope the leafs come out playing desperate.

Their offensive stars are mostly great two way forwards (Matthews, Marner, ROR) and their bottom 6 is essentially all defense no offense.

Their team system is possession at all times, which limits chances but also mistakes in the offensive zone. This means they’re very selective offensively to minimize the risks defensively.

They are also 7th in the league in GA this regular season while being 9th in GF

I predict a maple Leafs win. If not this game, then the next. Barring a miracle, there's simply no way the maple leaf stars don't end up decimating our PK. Bob basically saved our PK last game and he won't always be that good.

lol Tkachuk fight? Good one. He is a better Maroon. Turtling and hugging is best you get. He'll run behind the refs

Idk if they’re Panthers fans, but people aren’t bitching for the reason you say. They are saying it was shaky because all of the refs missed it. Their meeting to discuss it took way too long, and raises questions of if they saw something on jumbotron to make them realize what they had missed. It was like a big time out for the Leafs.

I thought Maurice was joking with the refs about the fact that there was obviously 4 for the high stick, but there should have also been 2 for the slewfoot. Somehow even with replay they missed that one.
 
I'm expecting Toronto to win. And I wouldn't be shocked if they win something like 6-2.

I liked when Maurice said that the Panthers played good, but not great. I think they know they have to be better defensively to win this series. Toronto is a much faster team than Boston so they'll have to adjust their game, which I think they can do.

So Toronto win tonight. But if somehow the Panthers win it, I think they win this series in 5 or maybe in 4.
 
Both teams can play better and the penalties likely won’t be so unbalanced this game. I think it comes to goaltending as the two teams are pretty evenly matched overall, despite the discrepancy in regular season points. The Panthers have been playing good hockey for a stretch now and are looking more like last years President’s Trophy team than the team that struggled out of the gate.
