As a Panthers fan, I expect the Panthers to lose. As a sports gambler, I expect the Panthers to win. Toronto is going to be desperate tonight, but that will not work out in their favor. They are geared to be an offense first team, so they will really try to force things. While the Panthers style has been to forecheck hard, hang back, and wait for the other team to make a mistake. Additionally, PoMo made a comment about the officiating. so likely the ref's back off a little for this game. NHL handed TML a B2B powerplay to start game 1, basically trying to hand them a goal. They did the same thing for Edmonton last night, the NHL wants to see a Canadian team go far in this playoff.

The Leafs are the furthest thing from an offense first team

Also the NHL is not manipulating officials

Desperate? IDK about that. Playing with more pace? Most likely.

IDK why so many people are trying to frame the situation like the Leafs are on the verge of elimination. Leafs are going to win tonight because they are the better team not because they are desperate.

Please, please, explain to me how the leaf's are not an offense first team. All of your superstars are on offense, and your defense is good, but not great. Your goalie is also good, but not great.

If you don't think NHL officials or any professional sports league officials don't take directives from the top, I've got a beachfront house to sell you in Iowa.

Losing two home games in a best of seven series as a favorite is a usually a pretty dire situation. I would hope the leafs come out playing desperate.

I disagree with some who say "just leave Tkachuk alone". In between whistles, yes, you let him chirp, you listen and use it as motivation, but during the game he should be a marked man.

During the game you hit him early and often. All checks against everyone should be finished, but against him in particular, you throw a check and expect your teammate to also throw one against him right after.

As he goes, so go the Panthers. I don't care who a player is, when absorbing hits constantly, by Game Five in a series they will feel it and it will impact their play. Of course Maurice is going to say that the Schenn hit is right in his wheelhouse. It is? Ok, Luke should oblige then. I've seen hundreds of series where big, bad men are pounded into submission.

The shanigans after the whistle are a waste of time other than to motivate someone. You defend yourself of course, but the verbal stuff is Bush League. That should drive you even harder with a quiet resolve to silence him by hanging a loss around his neck.

Devils just did that and won. Never underestimate terrible coaching

Never!

Edit: I'm a Coyotes fan.

Well then you’re a free agent! It’s got to be tougher being a coyotes fan than even a leaf fan.

If I was in Arizona I’d buy seasons ti let’s though. If I was anywhere but Toronto I’d buy season tickets. We have a 100 year waiting list and cost is astronomical.

I saw season tickets for the panthers for like $7 a game a few years ago. Or 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 beers, AND parking for like $60

I’m jealous of how accessible these games are outside of Toronto. I went to game #5 against Tampa (I really wish we won there, I was ready to party) and it cost me like $1,000 for beer, ticket and parking

You can absolutely get tkachuk off his game mentally by just never leaving him alone

Agreed not a great spot to be in, but they aren't there yet. I don't think there is desperation because I think Toronto players know they are the better team and will just play their game. If the Panthers play the same way, Leafs will be ready for it. Bob better be ready to play like that again

Stay the course, boys.

I've watched these tactcs work against Kadri, Lindros, Forsberg, ,Crosby and countless others. It is most effective if done by committee and with purpose.

Anyone who saw the 2010 Habs/Pens series saw PK hit and battle with Crosby all series. He got under his skin, off of his game and the Pens with all of their dominance couldn't crack the Habs and lost in 7.

I predict CATastrophic results for Toronto fans...while Florida fans will be purr-fectly fine with the outcome.

A win tonight could be the catalyst that Florida needs to take charge. Toronto will certainly have to play hard to claw their way back into the series if these lose Game 2. But, as we saw in the Tampa series, they are a team with 9 lives and can comeback.

Of course you do.

Leafs win big time tonight, 6-2. McCabe/Brodie will be smarter this time around, Lafferty in the lineup adds some speed to the bottom 6, I don't think Bob can repeat the performance from game 1, he had some clutch saves.

Matthews will likely get a goal, he was dominant last game.

The only real chance that Florida has of winning this series is if their $10.0 million goalie significantly and noticeably outplays their opponent's $1.8 million goalie.

Not saying this is what each goalie is worth. But this is what each team has invested in their goalies.

So Florida needs to see a significant and noticeable return on their investment for them to have any chance to win this series.

Toronto is too good to prevent a decent amount of high danger chances.

Panthers need to play smart and avoid dumb penalties and hope Bob is still on his A game.

I really hope Maurice tells Staal and Gudas not to pinch. Drop back to prevent Toronto's forwards from getting a step on them.

Note to GM’s Big Nostrils -= good goal scorers.
