Calling Barkov gets the winner

What ridiculous fallacy that is lol

The amount of leeway this guy gets is ridiculous. He's our most talented player and paid to be a franchise centre. Newsflash, he's not playing like one so far this playoffs. The credit he is getting is the kind of stuff you give to 3rd line centres playing well.

His metrics in the Boston series were terrible and it matches with the eye test as well.

3rd line centre at best. He's being caved in and gets dominated. The odd takeaway does not negate this.

If it was just the Boston series and he had performed as a 1st line centre in previous playoffs, there would be less of a concern. But how he has underperformed so far in his playoff career is concerning. He normally gets dominated by Matthews as well, so it doesn't bode well. Hopefully he steps it up and actually starts playing like one of the best players on the team. Because at the moment he isn't. Being over 50 percent on faceoffs, and having the odd takeaway does not mean he's having a good playoffs.
If you consider Patrice Bergeron a Hall of Fame player, then you shouldn't be blasting Barkov. Barkov has already won a Selke and should win several more. He scores more points than Bergeron and, as has been pointed out already, he is at just under a point per game in these playoffs.

Because he doesn't win every single board battle that doesn't mean he is being caved in and getting dominated. His backchecking is elite and he has more than the odd takeaway.

Maybe you can give the guy a break and not look at him with biased eyes. It almost seems like you want him to fail and God forbid he makes one mistake, it's all we'll hear about!

The TEAM just won a series against what has been called the greatest team ever in the regular season and the negativity being posted about the Captain of the winning TEAM is getting old.

Upwards and onwards

Agree, especially on the bolded.

Pre-Tkachuk, Barkov was my favourite player on the team. The biased eyes are clearly with you and some others who seem to give him multiple passes for lacklustre displays in the playoffs. I'm just calling how I see it. He's been underwhelming in his playoff career so far. That people are crediting him for the basics that you would expect from a 3rd line player speaks volumes. And guess what, the underlying numbers show what I and a few others have been seeing in his performances. But sure, you keep going ahead giving him credit for the bare minimum. The pass this guy gets for his playoff performances is hilarious. Biased eyes indeed!

This is also quite clearly Tkachuk's team now. Barkov might have the C, but we're not in the next round because of him that's for damn sure.

And why shouldn't I be blasting Barkov if I consider Bergeron a hall of fame player? That is some strawman nonsense right there.

It's not only cutting their magical run, but they were all in for this year. They have less top draft picks than us, a worse farm and only 6M in cap space to fill 11 roster spots. They are in a though spot.
From their point of view, it was magical, O didn't know they were so strapped with picks, farm and cap issues, sounds a bit like us this year.

Why would I want one of my favourite players to fail? We need him to perform like a 1C if we are to get past the Leafs. Sorry that you guys can't see he's not performing close to that level so far in the playoffs.
He has another gear to give, no doubt about it.

I just feel this year has been better than the past. Agree to disagree.

He is our best player, and needs to look like it on most night, we will see in round 2.

Chess match, is Pomo up for it?
He certainly was against the Jack Adams winner.

This is what was missing from last season. Really upsetting but it is what it is. Nervous free watching is such a relief.

Also, on my way to work this morning the people on NHL radio were talking about how the players were selling out blocking lanes making it difficult for Boston to get shots through.

Something we havent heard since Gallant was the coach.

Everytime they panned over to Montgomery he looked frustrated, shades of bubble gum boy.

Yep they were linemates. Do you know who the Third linemate was? He's in the NHL....

I believe the round one series Boston Florida recap goes to about the 36:33 mark. I haven't listened to the whole episode yet to hear the round two preview.
Round 2 talk is just predictions. The Florida part is 2:35:00-2:44:00

Didn't know this before, but Matthews and Marner know Tkachuk pretty well. Matthews played with him at the US NTDP in 2013-15, Marner played with him on the same line for the London Knights.

Will be interesting to see how Tkachuk approaches this and how the Leafs respond. They didn't do too bad against the Lightning antics in round 1. I know everyone talking about playing physical against them and we definitely need to, but I have a feeling they won't get as easily knocked off their game like the Bruins were.
Tkachuk will approach it by clunking their heads together like the 3 stooges

Okay, Paul Maurice just loaded his sack into a wheelbarrow to carry it to the rink.

Hope this move works.

I thought Bobrovsky made one mistake in game 7 - the way he played goal #3, but otherwise he was excellent. And his move to get the crew out to fix the goalpost swung momentum in overtime.

Just gotta trust PoMo here.

Maurice with some 4D chess playing Lyon.....

I hope!
So I've been thinking about this goaltending decision this afternoon.

Don't know that I would have the cojones to make this move as coach, so I'm trying to understand it.
I wonder if maybe Maurice feels like there's so much pressure in Toronto, but if he starts his "backup" goalie, it will ramp the pressure up even more?
Like someone mentioned, at worse you put Bob in game two and he has some rest.
He is capable of playing a bigger workload, but when he runs out of gas, he's done for a bit.
I've said it for many years, ideally you want to have two hot goalies going into playoffs. Then you can rotate between goalies, and the other team doesn't know what's coming,

Some Leafs fans love to be victimized so they can make every topic about them. It’s been this way forever and will always be this way.

I say some because you shouldn’t judge an entire fan base from the actions of the loudest

If your on a hockey forum and there is one obnoxious Leaf fan, and 100 other Leaf fans are posting with him you have 101 obnoxious Leaf fans.

Start at minute 5: Yandle...Florida is at the top of cap...yeah because we're paying you 5M...

Edit: Yands on Bennett...either he will get suspended or win the series for them!

Thanks for the video.
Great breakfown of the series, It is so awesome to hear the Panthers command such respect, we can build from here.
Keith Yandle was excellent on the breakdown also, it gives the impression that he is a true panther fan.
