I still believe that Asham should be playing. The guy is a scoring threat, aren't scoring threats a good thing?

Yeah, why the hell is Asham benched?!?

His always looked good, at least when he played the Rangers were usually pinning the opposition in their own zone and he potted a couple.

Another Torts brainfart.

Since this might be our last period; I would just like to say...

It would have been better if we had just dressed 5 defenseman tonight rather than put Hamrlik out there. Tortorella should have recognized this after last game.

That's the problem with this team and has been all year. They're great when they get some momentum, but they lose momentum too easily and it's far more difficult than it should be to get momentum back. And many times, by the time they do if they do, it's too late.

The good news about the penalty is it came with only about a minute left in the period. I think those are the worst penalties because it takes time to set up, and once you do, you only have about 50 seconds or so left in the period. And when the period starts back up, it takes more time to get reset up, so you lose a good 15 seconds or so from the period change on the power play.

More good news is we're only down one, so...

They don't have a 1/10th of the confidence that the Bruins have.

Actually we get pinned in our zone because our D handle the puck like a grenade in our zone. Blindly fire the puck to empty space in our zone and our breakouts flat our suck.

Maybe we should stop that.

Not going to blame Lundqvist for anything so far this afternoon, but Jonathan makes a very fair point about Hank's rebound control.

can the Rangers dress McIlrath in the 3rd???? cant be worse than Hamrstink..... McIlrath Bickel or another rookie should play on Monday when NYR wins over Hamrstink....

Eureka! Nice to read a post from a Ranger's fan with some common sense. The Bruins forwards are bigger, way faster, more physical and aggressive and just plain old better than ours are.

It is a bad matchup for us.

Yes they are better than us, but I believe if this team had a different system and more of an up tempo offense, things would be closer. Don't blow up the defense, but give the offense more freedom to create. And ont go ballistic when mistakes are made when trying to create. Say what you want about defense, and yes defense wins in every sport, but you still need to out score the other team. This team has the defense, it just needs the offense to go with it. And a lot of the pieces are there.

I don't understand how the kid hasn't been made into roadkill. Has any Ranger even hit him?

Not that I can remember.

The kid is skating around wherever he wants. He gets no opposition. Another case of a rookie AHLer looking like a hockey God against the Rangers only to disappear after.

Terrible game by the Rangers. 4 chances through two periods, and 0 in the second, isn't going to cut it.

What are the chances this game, 20 to 4?

It's embarrassing. They're being completely outclassed. You can't win a game if you can't start getting scoring chances. If it takes a complete gaffe by Rask to give this team confidence, then they're a terribly fragile team.

And i'll maintain that Richards should've been playing as well. I loathe Newbury. The dude has done NOTHING useful as a Ranger and, lo and behold, he's on the ice for what will potentially be the goal that ends our season.

Our 4th line was trash with Newbury and Haley and I can't believe people think putting them in had anything to do with us winning game 4.

I never saw much at all in Newbury. Just keeping his nose clean looks like a victory to me after his earlier callups. I agree, yet I just could not see much from Richards, just could not.

Asham? Yes, I see quality and talent in Asham. Have for a long time.

My prediction is that Staal,Clowe,Dorsett and Hamrlik are gone this offseason. Hamrlik is 110% gone, haha

Staal isn't going anywhere. I don't know why people seem to think this. I would venture that both Clowe and Dorsett stay too with Dorsett as a depth F/ healthy scratch. Hamrlik was a waiver wire pickup. With a healthy Staal he wouldn't have even been needed. He likely is as good as gone and good riddance.

wouldn't be surpriced if it comes out that half our guys have been playing hurt the last weeks..

Krug is a good kid. I can understand hating him for what he has done this series, but wouldn't you want a steady young player like that on the back line? I know I would.

They don't have a 1/10th of the confidence that the Bruins have.

I'm not sure about that. I home ice advantage is a HUGE factor. Last change and the crowd are incredibly important. I think we're confident and we have good players, but we REALLY struggle to fully execute our plays, whether it be from poor plays/turnovers from players like Del Zaster or not being to get a stick on the ice to punch a puck in, it's very hard for us with our style to execute and score.

But in all honesty, I'd MUCH rather play against Boston than Toronto. We can't play against fast teams, it's just unfortunate we aren't playing as well as we should be.

I don't know about that. Ottawa made the Pens look a lot better than they really are. Most Ottawa shots were poor quality form the boards and Sens D pretty much stood around in awe the whole series and let the Pens do whatever they wanted.

A big physical Bruins team that will hit the Pens will cause some havoc. That's assuming the league actually calls the NHL rulebook, and not the Penguins (you no touch Penguins!) rulebook.

Voukon is beatable and give out tons of juicy rebounds - if you're willing to battle to get into the slot.

Yep, I think the Bruins forwards can give Pens some serious problems. The only issue is Boston's Dmen.

They are going to get seriously challenged.

That whole series will come down to how effective Boston's forwards are. Also if the Bruins physicality gets in the heads of the pens.
