I don't care how badly I get flamed for this, but Lundqvist's rebound control is awful.

90% of the goals scored against him are rebounds.

it is an issue. But less of one if we can not bend over and grab our ankles and let the other team have their way with us.

This team is sooooo poorly constructed.

It's been beaten to death.

Would love to see the Rangers do something here. I have NO faith in their ability to do anything really.

A lot of you should have been alive for Guy Hebert and Mike Dunham years.

thanks for those horrible memories :help: Boris Mironov Dave Karpa Sandy McCarthy Tom Poti at least we dont have bums like that anymore.

Dunham coaches the Islanders goaltending...

Not really, he skates well. He passes the puck competently(though I don't think he has much of a playmaking game).

He is good positionally. He has an excellent shot.

I never said he is as good as PK Subban. Honestly, I haven't seen enough of him to make the judgement.

But, so far, he has reminded me of him and Subban's style of play.

Agreed on all of that. Not a good sample size to judge what kind of player he will be, but if he kept this up, I would love to have him on my blue line.

I want to see him being challenged physically and defensively before I'd even mention him in the same sentence. The Rangers haven't done aynthing.

The Rangers can't catch up to him to hit him, unfortunately. He's flying all over the ice.

Krug is a good kid. I can understand hating him for what he has done this series, but wouldn't you want a steady young player like that on the back line? I know I would.

you mean a guy who can one time a shot from the point with power and on net. No. Who wants those softie goals.

Now could that be because clean shots rarely beat him?

In this series it's more like 90% shots from the blueline...

The problem is, when he's playing well, the rebounds are partially due to the mass pileup right in front of the net, like on the 2nd goal. The way our D collapses is a double edged sword.

Our defense has been awful for years at clearing out the front of the net, but you need your goaltender to stop shots and hold them.

Our point coverage is also crap compared to last year.

I don't think Krug played a NHL game before this series. Julien has the balls to throw a rookie into a game.

God forbid Torts trust a rookie in McIlrath over Hamrlik who hasn't played a game in 2 months. Because its never worked before.....

Oh wait! Yes it has! His name is Chris Kreider!

Yes the 1st goal was weak on Hanks part but we aren't losing the game because of him. In fact he's keeping us in it. Would be nice to see those calling him out on the bad goal acknowledge that.

Not saying these dopes should win but Haley Newbury Dorsett and Hamrlk instead of Clowe, last years Brad, Powe and Staal is a big downgrade plus not enough shots on Mr. Choke Rask..

Krug is not even close to Subban, but he is effective. He is never going to have this kind of success again, no doubt.

If the shots aren't being deflected past him by our own dmen you mean?

Seems most goalies nowadays are taught to "be big in the net" and "block the net". The concept of actually stopping/catching pucks consistently isn't as prevalent as it was before the butterfly years.

It almost feels like goalies in general are losing their hockey sense a little bit in favor of just following the angles and keeping square to the net.
