Stating what happened in the games that took place isn’t being overconfident. It’s reporting the news.

I also said the reg season games don’t matter in the playoffs because the slate is clean… however it doesn’t mean those games didn’t happen 2/3 games the Bruins were fully healthy. 3/3 games they couldn’t muster any offense. Maybe that changes in the playoffs, we won’t know until the series starts, but it’s foolish to pretend the games didn’t happen and can’t be talked about.
Since you are mr impartial

Why dont you also analyze the last two playoff meetings between the Bruins vs Canes?

Canes are the favorite. But Bruins may have "previous playoff series success" as their lucky charm

Either way. See this going 6 either way. Lots of yelling at the tv screen

The Bruins pushed around the Canes physically and mentally in the previous two playoff series. Our goaltending wasn’t amazing but I wouldn’t say it was horrible and the reason we lost. Two and three years ago the Canes were simply a very young inexperienced team and didn’t have the experience and intensity to match what the Bruins brought.

There’s no denying that while the Canes fought hard in those two series they really weren’t close to Boston.

This year is of course different on both sides. I anticipate an intense series and really could see things going any which way. Boston has played great hockey since the calendar flipped over to 2022. They aren’t going to be an easy out

I think this will be the best series to watch in the East, similar to STL/MIN in the West.

My gut says Carolina pulls it out, but this is hockey and both teams are good so flip a coin.

It is absolutely fair to say that the Bruins have changed things up since the last time they played the Canes. Lindholm wasnt on the team at the time, however we do have to take a closer look at the other claims

Game 1 - CAR 3 - BOS 0
- Appeared to be a healthy B’s roster (maybe minor injury to someone?)
- Bergeron, Marchand, Pasta, Hall, etc played
- Swayman was in net

Game 2 - CAR 7 - BOS 1
- Appeared to be a completely healthy B’s roster (maybe minor injury to someone?)
- Bergeron, Marchand, Pasta, Hall, etc played
- Rask started and got torched… Ullmark came in part way through and gave up 2 goals

Game 3 - CAR 6 - BOS 0
- Bergeron and Marchand didn’t play
- Ullmark got the start and gave up 6

So, yes, Bruins fans are correct in saying that this team in the playoffs is different than the one earlier in the season but to be fair, they scored 1 goal against the Canes all season… Ullmark, Swayman, Rask all played a game each and other than Swayman in game 1 who gave up 2 (+ ENG) Ullmark and Rask got lit up… Bergy and Lamboman didn’t play in the 3rd game but in games 1&2 they did and B’s had a fully heathy roster with all of their big guns.

Does it mean anything? No, because the playoffs are a clean slate but I don’t think we should be going off some narrative that the Canes beat up on Bruins this year because old man Rask played poorly and the Bruins big guys didn’t play. It was pretty fair in terms of the personnel on the ice.

Hey man, if you want to think those games were indicative of the true talent levels of these teams, go nuts. I don't expect we will see any games that look like those games in this entire series. Maybe the first game where neither team generated any offense and the canes scored two goals deflected off of bruins D skates on nothing plays? These two teams are 1 and 3 in xG% for the entire season. It will likely be a tractor pull with both teams trying to possess the puck.

I literally said in my last sentence that the reg season games don’t mean anything in the playoffs… clean slate. Still doesn’t mean they didn’t happen and the circumstances around them didn’t exist.

Playoffs are a different beast and it doesn’t matter if you win 6 games in blow out fashion against someone in reg season. Canes had like a decade long run of being knocked around by the Rangers and then two years ago in the bubble we swept them with ease in 3 games.

Believe me, no Canes fans are taking the Bruins lightly. I’m expecting it to go at least 6

Who are going to be Canes game changers?
Neither Aho or Svec have been able to take that step yet

I wonder has Jacobs already started paying off the refs yet? Canes fans will soon find out

Whether the Canes best forwards are good enough to win all 16 games in the playoffs at this time is a fair question.

This is a 7 game series, though. A team doesn’t need a Kucherov to win one of those. Case in point, the Bruins have lost in recent years to teams led offensively by the likes of Barzal and O’Reilly.

Anderson skates but will not play game one..... If RBA makes the right call we play Kochetkov.... If not and he starts Raanta I predict the Bruins will win game one 4-3.

canes win in 4. Bruins pay price for throwing game to choose appointment
Somehow I doubt that if they were going to throw a game to choose their opponent, Carolina who won every single game against them this year, would be who they would choose. They rested players as did every team just about.

Reading through this thread I come away with a few things:

Lots of agreement that Goalie situation is interesting on both sides and unknowns will play a big factor.

Like the oddsmakers, many think this will be tight.

Some Leafs fans can’t help themselves, and instead of worrying about their own tough series are thinking they have a moral victory in that Bruins above all else are worried about the mighty Leafs. Too funny. And soooooo predictable.
every team in the league has the leafs living rent free in their heads; every team board they constantly talk about toronto. FACT.

I agree, Aho and Svech have not changed any games for the Canes in the past they might as well not be on the team.

Yeah because that’s why I said.

No matter the team the Canes were going to face I started to think about the weakness of Carolina during the season.
They are a balanced team but the only team in the East that you can really say doesn’t have a true superstar.

In the previous years Aho and the company have gone too quiet for my liking when they’ve played their biggest games.

I’ve watched ton of their games and can you disagree with that too much?

Whether the Canes best forwards are good enough to win all 16 games in the playoffs at this time is a fair question.

This is a 7 game series, though. A team doesn’t need a Kucherov to win one of those. Case in point, the Bruins have lost in recent years to teams led offensively by the likes of Barzal and O’Reilly.

As I said above that’s to me their biggest question mark, because they really don’t have much.
They were the best team in Metro this year so obviously are a good team and have gone for runs over the last couple of years but have finished short.
Goaltending is fixed so to me it leaves that as their biggest question mark and where I think Boston can overmatch Carolina and has to in this series.

Regular season and playoffs are different games.
To go to the end I feel you need game changers.
Blues had Pietrangelo and RoR, RoR won playoffs MVP and Selke on that season.

So in short to me Boston has the better high end talent but Carolina is more balanced team.
= Boston in 6 or 7

Bruins are gritty team with tough players and proven playoffs record. They can take jerks to game 7.
