Should be Canes turn to win this time but I hope Bruins could take it, or atleast prolong it.
Felt good about facing the Panthers, not feeling the same about Canes.
Hope it goes to 7.

Both toronto and boston sat out players. They didnt throw anything
Leafs had 2nd place clinched, their seeding could not be effected. Boston had 3rd in the division and 4th in the East up for grabs, but elected to "rest" their 6 best players in the final game of the season and ended up in a WC spot. Never have I ever seen this before, teams are dying to get points at the end of the season to advance in the standings and get home ice. Boston absolutely threw that game to avoid playing Toronto and end up playing against Carolina without Freddy. Bruins management waved the white flag, hoping these jerks lay a beat down on them now.

What home ice are you referring to exactly? I’m sure the Bruins should have risked their top players in that back to back game after having their flight cancelled to they could have home ice against the Caps if the Caps beat the Panthers. Just ridiculous line of thinking. Go back to your own series thread.

Canes are excellent. Bruins have physically dominated the Canes in the playoffs going 9-1 in that time. Obviously the rosters have changed over the years. Has the Canes DNA changed enough?

Here's the thing, if Freddy is in net, the Bruins will eat him alive. If not, Canes win.

Potential 2nd round and if they make the finals again against lower seed from the west. It's not that difficult to comprehend. Regardless, Carolina is still an elite team without goaltending, they'll just have to tighten up a bit defensively.

Goaltenders are questionable, maybe on both teams. Could go either way, but I think it will be 6 games either way. Boston always seems to find a way.

Everything should lean towards Carolina winning this but I have a feeling the Bruins will somehow win this series in 7 games

Dislike both teams, but Bruins in 6. Better built for overly-lenient, poorly-officiated playoff hockey, and I never put any stock in regular season h2h. I also think the top 4 Atlantic teams are the best teams in the conference. But we'll see.

It's weird seeing Boston this healthy going into the playoffs. Normally much more banged up. Nice change. B's in 7.

Can a Canes fan explain their G situation? Are the top 2 both injured? When are they expected back? How has the #3 looked?

Raanta Played the last game.. Andersen we won't know until tomorrow but as of now he didn't practice today. If he doesn't practice tomorrow he won't play game 1.

Those are all the facts atm.

My guess is Andersen won't be available until 5-7

Raanta and Kochetkov will get the initial nod.
and Lyon would be our #3 but he's injured as well. Kochetkov is our #4.. (as of now)

Freddie has been the clear #1 all year and has been phenomenal. He got hurt a few weeks ago and is day to day. Doesn’t seem like he’s expected to be ready for game 1, maybe later in this series.

Raanta has been the clear back up all year and has been solid, not great but still a reliable backup. He had cramps that got him pulled mid game about a week ago but he was backing up in the next game and started the final game of the season so he’s healthy.

The #3 is Russian prospect Pyotr Kochetkov, who just came to NA in the last few months (largely due to COVID and the war impacting the KHL season). Has been great in the KHL and AHL this year. Started 2 games for the Canes after Freddie got hurt and came in relief for 1 when Raanta had cramps. Undefeated and has passed the eye test though his save% isn’t good on paper. He really was a large reason the Canes secured the division ultimately, had some incredible saves vs the Rangers.

Best guess is Raanta starts game 1 although it’s not impossible Rod decides to go with Pyotr. Raanta higher floor lower ceiling, Pyotr lower floor higher ceiling.

Freddie will almost certainly step in once he’s back, only way he wouldn’t is if whoever starts is absolutely dominating and we decide to ride that momentum.

Canes in 5 for a win on Home ice. Boston might eek a win out.

The future is now old man. Seth Jarvis will not be contained. Enjoy the golf Bruins.

This will be close.
Carolina was a monster in the regular season.... but I have a very hard time going against Boston in the first round.
Bruins in 7.

The Canes 3rd goalie is Pyotr Kochetkov who is 13-1-1 in the AHL and 3-0 in the NHL. He just bested Shesterkin in a division-deciding game. He is a monster.
