I disagree with that they weren’t ready to start. They drew to PP’s in the opening 10 minutes. They were trying to be too fine on the PP’s though and couldn’t hit the net. The Wood offensive zone penalty was a back breaker. They scored immediately on their PP allowing them to sit back.

End of the day you have play smart.

Sure, but they stuck to their reg season crap while the Rangers adjusted, and they didn't adjust anything to what the Rangers are good at.

I didn’t think Mercer was great and Tatar fell off as the game went on. Hischier and Hughes both had to do too much themselves. Bratt and Meier need to uo their pace and vision . You’d think Bratt would realize this playoffs will have a big impact on that big ckntract he wants. He loses $12,451.65 every shift he doesn’t score.
It felt like only Nico and Mercer showed to have sustained pressure in the Rangers end.

Switch goalies and we still lose. We did not put enough on net, and we did not challenge Igor nearly enough.

We were one and done every single shift and never were able to get behind their D
I was talking generally, not specifically tonight. It'd be great to have a goalie steal one for us once in a while, like the Rangers have the benefit of getting.

Schmid against the Sens in OT type vibes. You know?

I feel as though we really didn’t make life too difficult for them tonight. I don’t think they necessarily contained our speed but that they clogged the lanes, got their stick or body on passes and shots and just never allowed us to get high quality looks on Shesterkin.

I don’t think we were necessarily bad 5 on 5 but the special teams were atrocious on both sides for us. That made the biggest difference at the end of the day. You can’t give up 2 goals on the PK and not get a shot on 4 PPs of your own.

Yea I thought they played pretty much how they have been in the reg season, but that's exactly the issue. They have to adjust to the blocked shots next game. You hope they adjust in-game but that's hoping for too much I guess.

Schmid plays and this is a closer game and who knows what happens. Zero excuse for Vitek to be this bad.

Can I tell you about this really amazing stew my wife made me for dinner tonight. It was awesome. I think I am going to hit the leftovers now.

I just thought of a positive :

Trouba didn't elbow any of our players into oblivion tonight.

That's something. :sarcasm:
That was something I hope the players realize is that they can play physically with the Rangers. If the Devils can just play their game properly they can win. Whether the coaches can put them in position to succeed I’m not sure.
