They took away our speed game , forced everthing to the outside and blocked shots . They added a new wrinkle to their PP and we had no answer for it.
Can't 1-2-1 the PK vs them, the gap it leaves Kreider is just too dangerous. Going back to a box is gonna give Zib chances in the left circle though, gotta make sure to get a stick in those lanes after (if) that adjustment is made

if Jack could win faceoffs, I'd take Nico off it as well. Put someone like Bastian that can screen the goalie and create some havoc.
Not sure how many guys who play in the middle of the ice on the PP are all that productive.

I do wonder if Mercer would be good in the net front spot. Bastian def brings size and physicality, but Mercer brings more skills, including garbage goal ability.

HD Chances were 15-12 NJ and scoring chances were 36-25 NJ. If we didn't create, then that means the Rangers created even less and we deserve some credit defensively? Or is there a double standard?
I thought 5v5 we were really good. I don't hate the Senko goal as much as some do, the Lindgren one though...woof, I know Vitek hates that as much as we do.

I think if we can jump on them an get to play with a lead we can really expose them

4. Relying on blocked shots isn't a great winning strategy for the Rangers. Someone is going to get hurt and its a tiring job.

In the long run, I agree. But for this series? It will be more than enough. I don't care if they win this series and lose the rest of the way because of being worn out from their blocked shot. I wanna see major adjustments now.

They were fine defensively for the most part in their own end. But the rangers strategy wasn’t some heavy forechecking aggression so there’s that factor.

We got outshot like 10-1 the first twelve minutes then they game managed after Vitek gave them the early lead with his turdburger

Exactly. We for some reason let the Rangers dictate the style of play for the game . They took away what were are good at and changed their PP up to somethimg we didn’t see during the regular season . We stayed the same and they gameplanned for it . Evident by us going 0-4 with zero shots . Rangers were coached and ready to counter us . We were not ready and did not play our game . Either by them preventing us from doing it or because they made adjustments .
We need to adjust or it will be more of the same for the rest of the series.
I didn’t think they changed that power play. I remember that exact Kreider tip at least two times this year against us. I saw it half a dozen times more in other games.

The biggest thing that happened is we got behind early and - unlike the regular season - they managed and controlled the game and didn’t let us come back.

Our special teams lost us the game in the first period. The penalty kill may be more important than the power play because if we keep it close, who knows. Plus the Lindgren goal. Didn’t like the first one either. Vitek MUST be better.

I may be wrong, but it feels like a lot of those happened after the Rangers had a comfortable lead. I thought we played well once we were down 2-0 and could have cut it to one, but then we let one squeak through short side, and I don't think we had much of a chance after that.
