This feels a lot like the 2008 series. We had to win game 4 at home to grab a 3-1 lead after losing game 3 in overtime, and game 4 was very tight.

We outplayed them all three games in Jersey. That's repeatable. We have home-ice energy over there if we take the lead.
Pretty much expecting just this. Expecting another low scoring one goal game or even OT again. Wouldn't be surprised if I fall asleep after a long day at work watching this.

This is the series right here..lose this game and I don't feel good about the rest of the series.Must win game tonight
Once upon a time, I used to WISH FOR 7 game series, because it meant MORE Rangers hockey and an incredibly stressful game 7. Prob about 5 years later, I got to learning about how essential it was to finish off a series, quickly and painlessly. Painless is the key word here.
The least amount of games, means there is "less chance" of players getting injured or bruised up to the point where it lessens their performances.
I predicted 5, and yeah a win tonight is essential for that to come true. But unlike others, I am not wavering on this team. We KNOW how to win game 7's, unlike some other devilish team, that I won't speak of. Hate them AND especially their stupid fans.
Rangers 5, Devils 1. Yes, that winning score again.

Have to say that I don't think the Rangers have been jobbed by the Refs, nor have the Devil; but overall, this first round officiating has been AWFUL. I know some people hate the whole "swallow the whistles" thing of the playoffs, but honestly the whole point of the playoffs used to be that you had to play the game at 5v5 more and that those 5v5 minutes were even harder than in the reg season.

Really hope the referees let these teams play more. As much as I want to see our powerplay, I want us to get rolling. We basically lost Kakko for two periods bc of all the special teams last game and he was a stud in game 2.

That's all for me though. either way, LGR!

No excuses we let them off the hook last game. I expect a hard hitting game 4**. We need to impose our will.

It's increasingly rare in today's NHL that series aren't close. Even a team getting handily outplayed wins games.

The old Rangers teams didn't fail to pull away because they lacked "killer instinct" or whatever you wanna call it. The old Rangers teams were constantly in close series because they were team getting outplayed and stealing games.

So true, we just weren't good enough. We were Hank enough. We had some pretty solid teams during that run, unfortunately others were just that much better.

We could use a huge game from our guys down the middle and a couple of big Kreider hits would sure be noticed by the Devil bench in a short hurry . He can be such a trend setter for the start of a game ...size and speed . Now knock somebody HARD .

I think a lot of the records of the top teams from the regular season are aided by just how split the league is right now between the 'have' and 'have not' franchises, and most of the have-nots are at home right now. At least in the Eastern Conference. Most of the teams playing in the playoffs right now in the East have fairly solid rosters. There aren't a lot of pushovers.

True, they're all good teams and then you have Columbus, Philadelphia, and Montreal on everyone's schedule.

The West is even worse. At least Buffalo, Ottawa, and Detroit for a large part of the year have/had developed into a decent test. Pretty much everyone in the West that missed the playoffs was shit except for Calgary (who had the good analytics, bad PDO bug all year).

I would be very unsurprised to see four 2-2 series in the West by the end of the night.

I'll tell you the one thing this locker room isn't lacking this season is confidence. There's exactly zero nerves from this group. They seem to feel like they expect to win every game.

When our first big controversy arises this playoffs it will be interesting to see if that helps. Normally we think of confidence as inherently good in competitive sports, but it can also lead to stubbornness/ lack of willingness to adjust as new challenges arise.

The reason I'm more optimistic than usual this postseason is because I see it as proactive confidence. It's more that the players believe in each other, and I think we will be able to make adjustments (Though that may have to come from our leadership group moreso than Gallant himself)

Wanna see the Trocheck line play a little better like we knoe they can. I know Tarasenko has been fine but Trocheck and Panarin have to produce more.

We need a lot more from Bread, Zibby, Trocheck and Laf. We're going nowhere if they continue to underperform.
Laf's evolution as a player has been a bit surprising. You'd think that he would flourish with open ice hockey, but it's the exact opposite. He'd actually fit very well in a Torts/Trotz style team.

Trocheck I agree. It's been a rough start for him.

GG, get this message across:
The ice will be shit
No fancy extra passes
Get the puck on goal and crash the net
I see another 1 goal game here

I have no problem with letting them play. If there’s some tough stuff, as long as it’s not egregious or affecting the play, let it go.

What Meier did was dirty. No one blinks an eye but Shesterkin could have gotten seriously hurt

I was never more certain about winning a series than going into that first round matchup against the Devils in 08.

With all the PPs and pressure we had in game 3, there is just no excuse.

Not the ice, not the refs, maybe the fans at MSG as I said, but really only the teams fault.

I would start the game with the bottom 6. Let them set the stage with some cycle and forecheck. We were really good at getting bodies near Vanecek and disrupting his vision. Pucks and bodies at the net to start and that will open up the east west plays later.
