Fun game to be at, feel like if you get a goal from Asham, you have to win the game, it was nice to see them not fold after the Caps tied it twice.

They kept showing the penalty Ovi drew on Garden Vision when the Caps called the timeout, think MSG was about to riot. Just watching it over, it was a penalty, but come on call a dive.

Crowd got going a minute before the anthem when they showed Staal on the ice, loved it, happy he is back, think he will get better as the games go by.

We need Richie, Stepan, Nash to be better. I know Nash and Stepan got the GWG, but just need them to be better, they are our two best forwards.

One shift late when Girardi was in pain, refused to come off the ice, even when they got a clear for a change, guy is a warrior.

Big up's to Brassard and Boyle, great job boys.

Crowd loved the Stralman hit on Ovi, keep it going boys, LGR!

i think the winner of game 4 wins the series. we'll have serious momentum on our side if we win game 4, especially if we get clowe back and have our full squad, talk about being a confident group if that happens. i think we ride that mojo to a game 5 win and game 6 close out!

having said all that, if we lose game 4 we're done in 5 lol

I thought Brassard was our best player tonight. Props to Boyle, he had a good game. Nice to see Staalsy back.

Must win on Wednesday.

As happy as I am about a W tonight, I'm very worried about Wednesday. Why? My girlfriend will be at work and unable to watch the game. The Rangers haven't lost this season when she watches.

Game 1 we were both working. Neither of us watched, Rangers lose.

Game 2 I was watching and she was sleeping (we both work night shift). Rangers lose in OT.

Game 3 I'm at work and she watches, Rangers win.

Game 4 I'll be off and she'll be at work. I'm scared gents.

I posted before the game time in GDTs for games 1 and 2. Didn't do it for Game 3 (forgot). Just saying.

Yeah, Hank had two iffy goals against him. The 3rd goal was just awful. He cannot have another game like tonight's in this series.
Yeah, screened deflections are a piece of cake. When it comes to evaluating goaltending, you have absolutely no clue what to look for. Or, you just love hyperboles.

---
If we allow their pointmen to continue have a field day in our zone, this series is over. You can't allow guys like Mike Green when he's on pick his corners. And Girardi still stuck on the PP unit, incredible.
Girardi was running it, in full reverse. The guy plays so many minutes he should never be out there with a man advantage.
It doesn't have anything to do with his minutes. It has to do with that he isn't a puck distributor, at any level, by any stretch of the imagination. He was a bottom 20 breakout defenseman in the entire league last season, that is pretty telling of his composure with the puck.

It's like if the old Avalanche team would play Adam Foote on the point. Why those clowns behind the bench keep putting him out there is beyond anyone. What the hell do they see in Dan Girardi that make them think he's an offensive threat? It must be some extremely weird confirmation bias and someone should politely ask them what the heck they are doing.

If neither Torts nor Sullivan knows what an offensive zone is or what a PP is supposed to do, get someone who does for the love of...

The first one was a deflection that would have gone blocker side and out of play without Backstrom's stick being there and it was on point 5 hole. Second one was a glove side shot with bodies in front and Pyatt screening with Green having a lot of net to look at. Maybe that one could have been saved with a quicker glove hand but it's a pretty tough save to make. Had he caught the Green goal with his glove hand, the crowd would be on their feet. The third goal deflected and snuck into the far side post. I'm not sure how you're suppose to detect a puck moving toward you on one post and also be able to cover the other post on a stickless, knee deflection 7 feet out of the net. Maybe he was a bit off positionally and a bit off in terms of his reaction but that's why shots off a faceoff win are so dangerous.

Not against Pittsburgh or Chicago maybe, but we play the Caps for christ sake. We should be able to score 4-5 on a nightly basis.

But agreed, this was certainly not his best game lol. I was waiting for Torts to start throwing beach ball at him.

POTG: Brassard
Good: Boyle, Stralman
Bad: Callahan, Stepan, Richards
Redden: Nash (except one real slick pass)

Nash really need to step up his game, looking tired and isn't connecting with the puck. Hopefully the big guys come forward big time next game.

We're not going to go anywhere without Nash. Cmonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Rick Nash.

Here's what I see the issue is with Lundqvist... It's pretty apparent that aside from the caps transition offense where the forwards are looking to get chances (Hank always seems to play these scenarios out well), they are clearly funneling their sustained offensive zone time to the outside shot (mostly via their D)... I feel Lundy HAS to make that adjustment and come out of his net more to meet that shot opportunity. 10/10 he makes the save on the 3rd and possibly 2nd if he's out of that crease to meet the shot and not relying on his reactions (which was the issue on the first goal). His challenges are no different than any other goaltender in the playoffs, and I hope moving forward that he makes those necessary adjustments.

Hold the freaking phone, are some of you doubting Hank's play?!?! All the goals that went in was due to traffic in front of him. The shot from the point was a clear deflection, the second one Pyatt was the one to screen him! He came up with a few key saves to give us a chance to make a game of this one. :shakehead

Some people are never happy. Sorry guys, he plays deep in the net. He's not changing that all of a sudden.

Was it Backstrom he made that sick post to post save on? That was awesome.

I've been watching the Sens vs Habs series, lot's in common with ours. Both the Habs and the Caps don't particularly like the rough stuff, keep hitting and watch them make their way to the box. The only thing is, we seriously have to capitalize on the pp. we should have put this game away in the second had we done so.

with a guy like Rick Nash, i would think he would play more of a gritty physical game in the playoffs but he didnt... he hasnt been good at all... if he isnt scoring i would have thought he would have hit or did some things on the ice to be noticable but he didnt.. reminded me of Gaborik as of late... :help:

I'm happy with the win but Nash has to show up or our season will be done. His one move coming up the middle of the ice and trying to use his reach to get behind the D is getting old, caused about 4 turn overs last night. Let him come in from the wing and drive to the net!

I'm starting to think (speculate) that Nash just doesn't know how to play in playoffs yet. He's like the big kid that doesn't realize he is better than 90% of the others on the ice. He's just not sure (yet).

I'm hoping that the more playoff games he gets, the better the chances are that it dawns on him that he can dominate at key times.

and maybe passing is what will give him the time and space he needs to starting scoring goals.

No sick and/or personal days ?

John Erskine got dinged up on the Ryan Callahan with 4 minutes left in the 1st period. He didn't take another shift that period. Erskine was late coming out for the 2nd. He wasn't as physical after taking the hit. Callahan hit him into the right wing corner. Looked like Erskine hit his left shoulder against the boards when he fell on the ice. The Rangers need to hit Erskine at every opportunity. Mike Green too. Their bottom pair D aren't that good. The Rangers need to expose them more on Wednesday. Erskine could have gotten a shot so he could play.

The Rangers have to make it stick on Wednesday. Two years ago,the Rangers were down 2-0 to the Caps. They won game 3 on a Brandon Dubinsky goal. The Rangers were up 3-0 in the third period of game 4. They blew the lead and Jason Chimera got the GWG in OT. Make it 2-2. Force the Caps to come back to NY on Sunday up 3-2 or down 3-2.
