I go back to the smashmouth description again. Our elite guys, our skill guys, whatever you wish to call them, are not smashmouth type of players. Will vs skill. Killer instinct. Some of the plays ive seen from elite and top players on other teams in the games so far demonstrate how far different our top guys are. They will rip a shot from anywhere. I see Draisaitl taking a bad angle shot versus waiting for a perfect one so his teammates can maybe pounce on a rebound. Tarasenko ripping it from everywhere. The only spot where Mika would not hesitate to rip one, in contrast, is on the PP and preferably from the left circle.

In Minn-StL game 2, Weekes commented that the Wild turned things around because in Game 1 they were trying to be artists. Game 2, they started being willing to pay the price.

if rooney comes out than mckegg is probably the one going in to offset the loss of rooney for pk. given that I am fine with rooney in the lineup...

The smart play would be to just let other guys kill penalties and throw Hunt in there, who would be very effective in a series like this.

I don't know if Rooney is really any better than McKegg either. Both suck and neither should be playing.

That's as much something learned as anything else. How many playoff games did Mitch Marner go without a goal before he dominated game 1? Drai and McDavid came up big--after botching game 1, after getting swept last year, etc. Kaprizov last night breaks through, got shut out the game prior and the only other series he played in.

Obviously our guys have some experience, but it's been a while, and never together as a group. It's not a guarantee that they'll figure it out, but I think they can. I thought the kids, Fox, and Strome were all surprisingly assertive. I think they're getting it.

OT2 against Chad Ruhwedel who is like 5'10" and 180.

Irritated me more than anything else I saw during OT. If he makes a play on you he makes a play on you. If he kept skating he gets a better scoring chance or possibly gets Ruhwedel to commit an infraction that wouldn't have been called, but its better than a shot that has no chance of going in on a goalie that isn't Georgiev.
I think our guys forgot Tuesday night that despite Domingue being a third string goalie, he's still an NHL goaltender. He isn't just going to allow anything to go in.

A series is all about making adjustments. We need to have a chance at the faceoff dots. When Bergeron retires next week, bring him in as a consultant.

I see that the board admins have turned off auto post merging. Instead, when you make your next post, your previous post is copied into the reply window, so you at least have the chance to delete it.

See? All about making adjustments.

Going to have this on repeat for the entire train ride.

lol

The announcers in the game are Gerry Thorn and Phil Clemente.
