If you're going to be shooting everything it needs to have pre-shot movement, traffic in front or you need to shoot at his feet. Fox threw two straight unscreened muffins directly into the logo which is the absolutely the worst thing you could do there.
That was Fox who did that? So cringe. And that no look pass to Strome where Fox treated Strome like a lefty and passed it 3 feet ahead of him can’t happen…

They didn't even take the type of shots that generate rebounds.

Everything was elevated muffins that I could stop.

Ok folks so I do agree with that, yes. I didn't like many of the shots either - but in the same breath that's also not saying don't shoot it or try to play globetrotters for some perfect, bang bang play for a shot to catch a cold goalie.

For sake of not turning this into some argument, I'm not trying to argue where to shoot on the goalie.

In that type of scenario we were in, throw everything at the net. I'm actually surprised Domingue stopped all the muffins to be honest but we needed to be in that kitchen way, way more. Pens are going to defend even more with 3rd/4th stringers in the pipes. Bomb those pucks.

Cheers fellas.

What iz a hockey? Asking 4 a frend
Hockey iz da scewd up way to say hackey (see my username). Hackey is da game where our 6 guys play dere 6 guys on a froze cold pond wit da steel blades on (dey gotta be sharp). 5 of da guys chase around fiten dere 5 guys for a hard round disc called a puck (if you don't have a puck a frozen cow turd will do). Ya try and get da puck past the 6th player on da otter team and in to a net for wat is called a goal. most goals win. Now we fans (us otter guys dat cheers da 6 guys on) we just hope dat our guy we sometimes call Goody (not sure why cause he ain't so good most da time)will score but most da time he'll fly down da pond and he'll let a shot rip and da darn ting will sail by da net and den ya gotta chase da darn ting a half mile down da pond. I hope I splained it good and remember frend, it's hackey.

The smart play would be to just let other guys kill penalties and throw Hunt in there, who would be very effective in a series like this.

I don't know if Rooney is really any better than McKegg either. Both suck and neither should be playing.
If they were going to let other guys pk than they should've/would've done it in the reg season. They aren't going to do it now. Rooney probably isn't even healthy right now, he hasn't looked right since he came back, but I think we are going to be rolling with him through the playoffs.

Oh yeah I wasn't trying to argue about it either.

Either way, new game tonight and you definitely wanna come out firing from everywhere. Domingue will hopefully be nervous and won't have the adrenaline he did last game nor the benefit of everyone else on the ice already being 4 hours into a game at that point. Get one early and don't let him get comfortable and I like our chances.

It's so weird but the pass-first mentality definitely contradicts the win-at-all-costs mentality. @will1066, the 'killer instinct' you're getting at... we have a team whose first instinct is to wait, find an opening, and exploit it for the most damage in one blow. But winning in the playoffs isn't about trading haymakers, it's about wearing down your opponent and taking the openings the give you, at the moment they arrive, without hesitation. You can win regular season games with one punch, but not the playoffs, and refusing to force your opponent on their heels whenever and wherever possible ultimately costs you down the line.

One way or the other, this core--Panarin, Mika, Kreider, Fox--will all be subject to the same pressure and criticism that Marner, Matthews, McDavid and so many others have faced up to now if they don't make a change and lead this team in how they need to play.
