The old Penguins were much fresher than the young Rangers in all 3 OT periods.
Thought I was posting in the playoffs general GDT and I was on the Pittsburgh boards lol. I'm now banned from that thread.

We looked far more gassed than they did. And they get to go home after Thursday.
That second period was worse than practically any Lundqvist team second period. It's a miracle the score was only 3-2. I thought the Penguins had the edge in the third period and OT but it wasn't that significant in my eyes and we dominated the first, especially 5 on 5. I feel like if the team didn't collectively shit the bed in the second and look like a bottom 5 team they would have easily won this game.

It's funny, all regular season I was clamoring for Kakko to get exposure to the Panarin/Strome or Zibanejad/Kreider combos to help Kakko progress and get points on the board. After this game Gallant should be asking himself which of those two pairs most needs Kakko on their line to give them a boost.
Mario whined about The NHL being a garbage league when he played. He was right. Can someone explain how Kakko wasn't pushed by Dumoulin? These people are stupid and dumb. This league with all of their BS is a garbage league.

I hope this one stings, and stings alot and we see a much different effort inside 60 mins next game. No excuse for that second period - regardless of the adversity we faced. I am so sick and tired of overpassing, it's taken years off my life.
Well having to win 3 games rather than 4 is going to mean you usually win. Still not a must win which insinuates you HAVE to win the game.

Zibanejad really picked it up in the 3rd and OT. Vatrano tried but was really ineffective. I personally would put Kreiders head on a f***ing pike for this game, just f***ing awful.
They need to jumble the lines not because they lost but because it looks like Copp and Panarin are very noticeably hurt and Kreider isn’t interested in trying.

None of what happened to me is surprising. The Pens will always get the benefit of the officiating. Always. The last 3 times we played them the had a 10-4 PP advantage. It's the reason I did not want to play them.

The ice was atrocious.
The refs were rough.
Panarin is hurt.
Zibanejad and Kreider had no urgency and barely moved their feet the entire game.
Every defensive pair was a problem.
At least Shesty was on point.

The irony of Lindgren, who threw a beautiful hit and knocked Rakell out, getting hurt at the end is something only the Rangers could draw up.

The whole series to me is tainted if Pittsburgh wins. This game was rightfully won by the Rangers.
Jim Dolan needs to release another public statement at the end of the series.

And what about their goalies? Did they not play well? We had 1 PP and 70 SOG. We were severely outplayed in the 2nd period. The 3rd and OT's were mostly even and we had plenty of chances.

You're right but it still shows an inability to close games out. If they could've kept their foot on the gas we win.

Some centers carry the puck into the zone, back off the defenders, and make a play from there. It allows for the wings to both get open and have a little time and space. Rangers have one who can do that in Zbad and it's not really his strong suit. They need that player, and since they are committed to Zbad, they need that type of center badly.

this... 1000x. Rangers blew it 100%... but they should have come out of this game with an ugly win, and some lessons learned for game 2.
This sport has become insufferable with this asinine officiating.

I believe we outshot them if you take out the second period and it was almost even if you take out the first two periods. I still think they had the edge in play in the 3rd and OT, but it wasn't some domination.
