Too many people want to kiss Gallant’s ass because he took a team that has some in their prime superstars and corrected a botched coaching job by Quinn which led to what would have been like a 6 seed under the old playoff format.

Gallant did a good job but not a perfect job and his management of the kids has not been good.
Gallant is a good coach relatively speaking but the whole f***ing sport is tic-tac-toe while football and soccer are chess, coaching wise.

Coaching has never really evolved in the NHL from the beginning. It's been get pucks deep, lean on my favorites since the 1920's.

A triple OT, a goal taken away that was the game winner, no real leader/captain in the locker room, and home ice advantage gone now.

I wish it wasnt true but sadly.. This series may be over quickly just the opposite of what we all thought and want
Bro, its game 1. Penguins do not scaree in the slightest. Their game is simple, shut down stretch passes. Slow old team. No excuses

Game 1 was a must win. We needed the confidence as a young club. This loss hurts tremendously and ultimately i think the end of the series
Sorry to disagree, this was a quality learning experience do to the fact they went toe to toe with a very experienced playoff team. Hopefully they get past that crappy second period. This Is a very young inexperienced team and are very resilient. Yes it’s a downer to lose this game but they can get the advantage back by winning one in sh'tsburgh. On to Thursday.

Schneider-Nemeth was overwhelmed often.

That game was a little like the New Jersey game after the deadline. This year's team gets the benefit of the doubt for me: I think they'll show up for game 2.

And Pittsburgh who was already playing their backup goalie has to turn to their 3rd string guy in 2nd and 3rd OT and WE STILL HAVE PLAYERS OVER PASSING THE PUCK. It’s f***ing overtime in the playoffs. These games aren’t won with globetrotter plays, they’re won by throwing the puck at the net and going for the best. We lost the cup in 2014 to a team for this exact reason, I can’t do it again. Shoot the f***ing puck.
Posted in the game thread, but the Rangers are "too unselfish" for their own good, that's the common main core issue.

The Penguins went exactly (to the second) 97 minutes without being penalized while playing playoff hockey.

Either we’re going to overcome the fact that we aren’t going to get the calls or we’re going to play like we did for 100 out of 126 minutes and let it defeat us and then whine about it like beta boys. Up to the guys in the room.

Losing game 1, even in that shitty fashion is not worth dooming over.

If panarin and Copp are hurt then that is worth dooming over lol.
