With ESPN's struggles to mix the announcers and crowd noise, might be extremely difficult to hear the announcers anyway with our building in the playoffs.

If I’m blocked out of buying playoff tickets when I can actually go, someone is getting kicked in the ding ding.
I'm fine with it just don't kick me there.. I wouldn't like it!,.
The downsides are that the audio quality is not as good (stream bitrate and lack of speaker balance control if you have a 5.1 setup) and you end up 10 seconds or so behind the real-time GDT/NHL.com Gamecenter.
It’s worked out well for me otherwise. If you’re motivated, it’s worth the trade off.

Yeah, this is the way playoffs have always been (well, since they started broadcasting every playoff game nationally around 2010). During round 1, local broadcasters have rights in local markets, but every game has a national broadcast and national broadcast crew for everyone else. After that, it's just straight up national broadcasts for everyone.
And we're opening the playoffs for the entire league at home. I like that we're in the big international spotlight for once. (just, ya know, don't f*** it up. f*** the Bruins up instead)
