NYR must win this game. If they lose today I give them a 10% chance to win the series. I hate saying that but TB is getting better every game and the longer this goes the more there MIGHT be a chance Point comes back. You absolutely cant play with fire and get into a best of 3 with TB getting their mojo back. NYR has to win tonight...
Well if you say 10% out of your *** then it must be true.

In all seriousness, we all know the severity of this game. If it goes 2-2, it’s certainly a coin flip at best (not some asinine figure like 10) despite having home ice 2x. Win tonight and we’re seeing white Ranger uniforms in Denver.

What are the odds that a line 2 with a banged up Strome still gets at least 5 more minutes of ice time than the significantly better kid line? 99.9999999%?

At one point, Panarin had decent lateral mobility, but he had lost his explosiveness and couldn't even reach 50% of his top gear. Possibly a groin injury? He did miss time toward the end of the season. Glad to see he's physically better (I won't go into his recent mental lapses).

Kuch is a notoriously dirty player. No surprise there. You'd just think that, eventually, he'd get called for the shit he pulls.
He hasn't been able to all season, which is a worry. Posters observed he was not in great physical shape coming out of pre-season and he really hasn't gotten that much better. This makes me wonder how significant the injury from the Wilson smash really was. And if not that, what the issue really is.

I've seen him fly up the ice a few times this post season. Had a great entry against Carolina that had me wondering where the f*** that has been this whole time.

So its still there. Why it hasn't been there more often is a question only he can answer.

Panarin is playing better than the first two series but he is a trainwreck in the defensive zone (as well as Kreider). He roams around like doesn't know what he is supposed to do. Plus, he's been making a pass to the center, when he's on the half wall, curling up in the center of the zone and I swear one of these times, TB will read this and pick the pass off. I'd rather have Reaves out there at the end of a game trying to protect a lead and he is only better than Panarin and Kreider.
Panarin playing "better" is an admittedly low bar. He played terrible the first two series. I think his injury at the end of the regular season carried over. My guess is that it was a groin injury.
I hope we see Panarin play up to his standards and not just better than terrible.

They had their best period of game 1 in the first period. A team that has rust issues won't have that be the case.

They got locked up in game 2 until they pulled their goalie. Hell they got locked up for half of game 3 until Trouba got stupid.

They've played a ton of hockey in the last 2 years. The 9 day layoff will help to alleviate some of that fatigue, but not all of it (any of the benefits they would have gotten from that are gone by now.) The further this series goes, the more likely fatigue becomes a factor (I think for some of their players it already has. McDonagh in particular hasn't looked great in this series.)

The only potential benefit from playing a longer series for Tampa is that they may be able to buy some time for Point to come back, and even in that case who knows what version of that guy they're getting (his injury is obviously pretty significant.)
I expected TB to play well in the beginning of game 1 just from adrenaline from getting back into game action and then to fizzle out as the game settled in, which is more or less what happened. I am just not at all confident getting into a best of 3 with TB having won the last two games. I think tonight's winner will win the series.

you say asinine and I say it is a probability. if they lose tongiht it is probably going 7, so you want to bet on nyr to be playing 21 games in three series and winning three game 7s? not likely. I would expect a repeat of what happened the last time these teams met in the game 7 of a conference finals (result, not score). losing back to back games to blow and 2-0 series lead and then have to win a best of three against these guys while looking at 20 or 21 games played in 3 series is daunting, it isnt asinine to think that way, it is realistic...

The probability of NYR winning three 7 game series is only high before they win one and then the second. Just like rolling three 4's on a six sided die is 216 to one, but once you roll the first two 4's the odds of rolling the third goes to 6 to one... We already won two game 7's that doesn't make our odds of winning the third one any worse.

This is not a must win. This is obvious. Losing this we still hold court. And head home where we play really well and are very tough to beat. Momentum or not, Tampa can't keep up with us. They are too slow when we play our game. And we always come to play at MSG.

True we let them back into the series blowing a two goal lead in Game 3, but we weren't gonna sweep the Stanely Cup Champs anyway. And we didn't exactly play our best game and was still was right there, right up to the last minute of play.

This series is a mismatch. Tampa can't compete with us. We play our game Tampa is toast. The only way Tampa wins,.. is if we are not playing our game. It's got nothing to do with what they bring.

No team is gonna lay down for you. You have to take it from them. And we have shown, even before this series started,.. that we have the tools and the ability to do just that.

10% is a fake number. There is literally 0 statistical analysis to back this up. In fact, I'd guess that if you looked into teams that win the first 2 at home and then lost the next 2 on the road, still probably come out >50% of the time. So it's very likely that 50/50 is closer to the actual odds versus your absurd, pessimistic number.

I'm going to assume Strome isn't playing.

If Goodrow does indeed try to go, do you play him on that RW with Panarin-Copp if he's so not close to 100%? I'd rather give that run to Motte. His speed and puck pursuit would fit on that line.

Depends who they sub in for Strome. Praying it's Blais, but assuming it would be Rooney, which is horrendous. I'd rather have Brod or Hunt if Blais can't go. And you can either move Motte up, or just insert Hunt with Copp & Bread.

Why?

Just because he left optionals early? I think its a bigger deal that he was out there to begin with.

Lavoie reported he came out, tried to skate at full speed and left. He didn't just leave early, he only lasted a few minutes. That, to me at least, sounds like a very quick answer to the question on whether or not he can go. Maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah the answer could very well be "Yeah I'm good, no need to push this any further before game time."
