I'm shocked you think the layoff didnt hurt tampa. can you expand on why you think that and why you think things are better for us the longer this goes? I dont understand either of those.if you bought into the layoff garbo, then sure.
I don't. In fact I think the longer this series goes, the better it is for the Rangers.
I mean, I'd still rather the Rangers end this series in 5 than take it to another game 7if you bought into the layoff garbo, then sure.

Nurse played with a torn hip flexor which is absolutely dumb. I have a little more faith in our training staff making the hard calls on guys and not letting them play through something that severe. Cooper before the series had a good take on playing guys with injuries in regards to Point. There's a discussion between the training staff, the player and then whether or not his ability is a detriment to the team. In Nurse's case he was a huge detriment. Same could be said for Panarin in large portions. When the playoffs end, I'm really curious to see what injuries the Rangers are going to end up having. Strome, Goodrow, Panarin, Fox, etc.

and in hockey parlance, we are significantly younger, so barring actualy injuries our players should have better recovery between games as well. They had their best period of game 1 in the first period. A team that has rust issues won't have that be the case.
They got locked up in game 2 until they pulled their goalie. Hell they got locked up for half of game 3 until Trouba got stupid.
They've played a ton of hockey in the last 2 years. The 9 day layoff will help to alleviate some of that fatigue, but not all of it (any of the benefits they would have gotten from that are gone by now.) The further this series goes, the more likely fatigue becomes a factor (I think for some of their players it already has. McDonagh in particular hasn't looked great in this series.)
The only potential benefit from playing a longer series for Tampa is that they may be able to buy some time for Point to come back, and even in that case who knows what version of that guy they're getting (his injury is obviously pretty significant.)
They haven't played a ton of hockey. They played 56 regular season games in 19-20 and there was a several month break between the last regular season game and the bubble playoffs, they had a bye for the play in round. Then in 20-21 they played 70 regular season games. They played the least amount of games for a repeat champion in decades. You have to go back to the 65-66 Canadiens who played 70 regular season games. They had their best period of game 1 in the first period. A team that has rust issues won't have that be the case.

The Penguins won back to back Cups recently playing full 82 game seasons.Comparatively to other reams playing right now? They've played alot. They had a bye, but they had to play other teams during that week for seeding reasons.
Remember they also played into July last year and the regular season (a full one) followed right after on time (condensed due to an anticipated olympic year.) They had almost a month less of off season rest than a normal cup winner would get.

The Lightning have had benefits no other Cup champions ever had.
Panarin is playing better than the first two series but he is a trainwreck in the defensive zone (as well as Kreider). He roams around like doesn't know what he is supposed to do. Plus, he's been making a pass to the center, when he's on the half wall, curling up in the center of the zone and I swear one of these times, TB will read this and pick the pass off. I'd rather have Reaves out there at the end of a game trying to protect a lead and he is only better than Panarin and Kreider.I think Panarin has gotten healthier as the playoffs have gone on. He played terrible the first two series but has been noticeably better this series.
On a side note, Ryan McDonough was one of my favorite Ranger and ex Ranger. After seeing all the dirty plays he gets away with this series that has changed. He is a dirty POS in my eyes now.
I think Tampa has found the secret for winning. Since the Ref's swallow their whistles in the playoffs and only call the penalties they absolutely have to, Tamps plays dirty and tries to injure players to win. The amount of cross checks and boarding's they get away with is unreal. That Kucherev stick to the back of Igor's knee was a penalty that should have been called. We need to step up and play "grittier".
enjoy, man!

I’m not even going, it reached capacity before I found out. Just stopped by on my way to pick up lunchenjoy, man!
At one point, Panarin had decent lateral mobility, but he had lost his explosiveness and couldn't even reach 50% of his top gear. Possibly a groin injury? He did miss time toward the end of the season. Glad to see he's physically better (I won't go into his recent mental lapses).I think Panarin has gotten healthier as the playoffs have gone on.
