That's great. But using it as some unique trait to just Tampa to rationalize how they'll win is stupid when the Rangers have shown even more resilience these playoffs. They've had their backs against a wall the entire way. This series is the first time they've had a lead.
if we were down in the series he’d say “the rangers have shown resiliency in the playoffs so far but this is tampa” people are giving tampa the respect they deserve after winning 2 cups in a row. we’re getting the respect we deserve for a young team that wasn’t expected to but at this point could win the cup this year. beat tampa tonight ending the 17-0 record and people will be less rigid with the “but tampa…”

Well it showed that they could come back and win after getting throttled.

Think you guys are making too big a deal about this. Had the Rangers lost game 1 I'm sure Button would be saying the same things about the NYR resilience and how they came back from 3-1 and 2-0 deficits.
The only point I'm trying to make is that according to the pundits the Rangers aren't even in this series. It's Tampa Bay playing against themselves. It's insanity listening to the crap that comes out of their mouths sometimes.

They don't really happen with out the controlled entries for them though.

As a team, they aren't great at retrievals. With a goalie who handles the puck as well as Smith does, I don't know why they don't employ this strategy. They'd almost never get to set up shop.

This is how Vegas smoked them last year. They were SO MUCH better than Colorado after game 1 and that series really should have ended in 5. Grubauer was f***ing fantastic in that series.
Who knows Woodcroft's plans? But they better come up with a solution because they're down 2-0. Whatever they've been doing hasn't worked, and what happened in Vegas stays in Vegas.

Shesty handles the puck really well too. I didn't see Rod and the Canes try anything to prevent him from retrieving the puck. And, come to think about it, this is something I'll be looking out for tonight, if Cooper and Co. do anything with their zone entries that deters Shesty from touching the puck.

Do you see the irony? The narrative coming into this series is that the Rangers haven't faced a real goalie yet, which every Ranger fan has downplayed. Now half this board wants to discount the Avs for the same reason.
The Avs are a really good team. The only weakness they have is in goal, but if they spend the entire game in our end of the ice, it won't matter. And let's not act like we'll just be able to shut them down like we did Carolina.
I couldn't have said this better. But I could add a little something to this excellent post. Carolina didn't have any game breakers like the Avs. They didn't have a MacKinnon or Makar to get them back in the game.

And while their goalies are not household names, they are both quite capable netminders. Their backup just shutout McDavid and Draisaitl? Are you kidding me? Evander Kane has 13 goals in 14 games.

that’s not even true i listen to nhl radio everyday. we’ve gotten way more respect so far against tampa than we did in the carolina series. people have been impressed with our team and there’s been much raving about igor, fox, mika, and the kids but it’s normal as a neutral fan to temper expectations after 1 game since the opponent has proven multiple times they can bounce back.

if anything it’s the analytical models that have given us no chance.

There were moments during the 1st period especially, that the Lightning hit us and finished their checks hard. We tend to shy away from finishing checks, if they do that early and often, it’s going to pay dividends to them as the game progresses.
I have no idea how this game is going to go.

Hypothetically, if we do end up winning, I still feel that means nothing. Carolina won their first two games at home too.

How could I possibly be expected to work on a day like this

These talking heads find anything to rationalize their narratives. Carolina didn't have a goalie, Tampa was rusty, Tampa was tired (from playing FAR less games than any Stanley Cup champion since 95).

Barely any if them will simply call it as it is. The Rangers have been better then their competitors. Including Tampa. Until that changes they shouldn't be calling it the other way around.
It’s exceptionally difficult to dismiss all that Tampa Bay have accomplished, besides being 2x Stanley Cup champions, they’ve won 17 consecutive times after a loss. That is an astronomical and incredible number. Its hard to dismiss that sort of resilience.

They only changed their tune after we won game 1. Its all the analysts and podcasters didnt give us a chance against anyone we played. Let them disrespect us, just adds fuel to the fire.

And if people are changing their tunes then f*** them. WE dont want them as bandwagon fans.

Will be at Three Jolly Pigeons in Bay Ridge if anyone is in the hood. Probably be there around 7. Amirante shirt, few tattoos.

Say hi if you happen to be there.

GET IT DONE BLUE.

Colorado is rolling JACK JOHNSON out there. There will be plenty of opportunities to get goals if both team meet next round.

Also, the two games during the season, like we have seen with every other series, are pointless. The first Avs game Huska was the starter and Georgiev started the 2nd one. Both games were played before the leaves were falling off the trees.

Said it last series, I'd love the opportunity to go head to head with Tampa. It'd be the same thing for Colorado.
We find it very hard to play in the thin air up in Colorado. I hope we make a series of it. But I don't like our chances coming out on top.

Tampa is a completely different scenario. We are faster, quicker, deeper, and have home ice. They can't stop us from executing like the Canes did. It would be a total shock if they beat us.

And as shocking as it is, that Jack Johnson has found a spot on the starting roster, he's only playing 10 to 12 minutes a game.

I don’t know how to feel. I’ve become more comfortable being the underdog and trailing 🤣
I know....one minute I want to step carefully and the next I am all in for the Finals . It is tough.....they showed great character coming back from 3-1 deficits not once but twice ! Anyways....like I tell my hockey friends and Leaf and Hab fans...it is all bonus play now for us and the Rangers have absolutely nothing to lose . We have some great vets and some kids looking to make their mark and a coach they obviously like and play for and last but not least a World class guy in the net ! I like our chances.... & I hope Oilers push that series to at LEAST 6-7 games and Kassian and Nurse start finding pieces of MacKinnon and Makar on every rush.

people are changing their tune because the rangers have continually looked better as the playoffs have gone on.

If you felt like I do,... knowing there's no way Tampa can beat us, that there is no route to victory for them, then you might care more about the west.

Hell, you can even see it in Coop's pressers. He is hiding the best he could, the awe he has for the Rangers. He knows he's in tough.
I'm not sure if you are trying to be like EdJovo or what. Never look past your current opponent. This team is going to be taking a Doctorate class in competing in the playoffs against Tampa. Tampa learned the hard way through failure and turned into arguably a dynastic team. Speaking words of "this will be easy" is just asking for bad juju that I want no part of.

And Carolina hadn't lost a game 7 and also hadn't lost at home yet. We can break this streak too!

Is it? They don't have the Gourde. They don't have Goodrow. Point is out.

Imagine the Rangers not having Zibanejad, Copp, and Goodrow in this series.

If they want an excuse, because everyone's making excuses for them all day on NHL radio, that's the excuse to use.
ALL the analyst got this series wrong. All picking Tampa, when we are clearly the better team. It matters diddlysquat Tampa has won 17 times off a loss, or that they are the 2x Stanley Cup champs. if we clearly are the better team. And beating the Canes like we did, shows we are the better team. We improved throughout that series to beat a much faster, much more aggressive team than Tampa. And that is huge, because now we will have all the time and space needed to execute at will. There is no way Tampa can smother our attack like the Canes did. We will have free reign to execute our game plan, leading to many more scoring chances than we had against the Canes.

And why these professional analysts couldn't see this, boggles my mind.
