what from that quote leads you to believe that he's the catalyst the rangers need right now?

That he's good at puzzle games? makes sarcastic HS retorts?
I'm fine with Rempe being in this game despite not being on the wild bandwagon. But people have become completely brainwashed that anything this guy does is a sign he should be out there.

I get he's exciting but the guy is not that good at hockey right now and has limited impact in his 4 minutes a night.

I do actually think it's beneficial overall for us though, because IMO having Rempe play 4 minutes and then a combo of Mika, Panarin, etc getting the other 4 is better than Brodzinski getting 8.

I would be curious to see wheelchair out there though.

PUCK SUPPORT

I said before the series started that would be one of the biggest keys and many mentioned it after game 1.

Florida is on the body every chance they get, so support with shorter passes - support giving outlets instead of giveaways - support with taking a hit to spring odd-man rushes and so on. Its there. Florida is prone to the breakaway, we've already seen it and this is the best way to get more.

Get tighter for higher percentage passes and playing as a group coming in and out of the zones and helping out the D, especially Fox who is a step and half off.

This will lead to a lot of good things instead of reacting to a turnover or a loose puck battle. Turn up the heat and drive through all zones in small groups

LETS f***ING GO

Kakko did this to himself - he not only doesn’t score - he doesn’t put pucks on net.

His Ranger career is in real jeopardy.

Panarin’s nyr career is also on the line .

I still think Wheeler should play over somebody, even if Rempe is in.
Wheeler was nick Bonino smellful

I think scratching Kakko for Rempe is a mistake.
Well deserved and earned by KK

Someone mentioned in one of the postgame threads that we actually play better when we take more penalties. I was skeptical, but after doing some research, here are our records when we have 12 or more PIM in a game (league average is around 9 btw):

NYR: 18-3 (1 of the losses was a shootout loss)
FLA: 26-17 (1 of the losses was a shootout loss)

Those numbers include regular season + playoffs. That's the best winning % in the league by quite a bit. I'm not saying we should goon it up like the Charlestown Chiefs or something. But if the refs seem compelled to even up the power play opportunities--and indeed, in those 21 games we played in which we had 12 or more PIM, the opposition also was given 12 or more PIM in 71% of the games--then it wouldn't hurt to get a little nastier. If your special teams are only so-so then it's kind of playing with fire. But when you have a PP and a PK that are both in the top 3 of the league it might be worth a shot.

And even if you don't score at least you get some good looks and build some momentum. Even though we didn't score on the PP last night we started to play better after it ended and the crowd was at least getting into it a bit.
I would imagine that a lot of this has to do with how good the PK is and how breaking up 5v5 portions of games where the team struggles with a good PK can deflate the opposition. When this team gets in trouble is usually for extended portions of 5v5 play.

Yea all of the beat reporters gush about the person he is off the ice too, Larry Brooks said: “I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I’m not sure I have ever encountered a player who is as authentic, comfortable in his skin and as happy to be here as Rempe.”

One funny thing that was en example of this was his hilarious reaction to his goal being overturned that one time, most players especially a rookie in his first 10 games in the league would try to play it cool and act unfazed, but he had the funniest expressive reaction to it snapping his head back and looking like he just got kicked in the balls. I think intangibles are under-appreciated in today’s era of analytics and Rempe brings a lot of stuff that you usually see from veterans. Hank wouldn’t have been Hank without his fierce persona & the style, Ovi wouldn’t be Ovi without his over the top personality, list goes on. And I think even aside from the physical presence, that confidence, swagger, fun he brings rubs off on the team.

It is funny that this will be framed as an outlandish Jovo take but some blue chart saying "Kakko is good!" from some nerd is the gospel according to Dom. What happened to the game I love!

How is Panarin's career on the line? He had the second best season in Rangers history. He's not going anywhere.

That he's not taking shit too seriously like every other player (and fan)
imo this team is way too casual, they need to play with urgency and desperation... the winner goes to the cup! did they look motivated last game?

i don't dislike Rempe, he can be a cool addition to the team if he develops into an actual player.

Who wouldn't want a a menace on the ice every night? right now he's just a "slap shot" oddity.

I don't take him too seriously.

This team needs Brady Tchachuk and a make over... we'll see how things go.

Our first time trailing in a series this playoffs and its time to trade our best player for Brady Tkachuk. Some people need to step away from the game after a loss.

If its Kakko for Rempe thats the first horrific move this staff has made all season.

Rempe wont see a ton of time and these are tight games. You are shortening the bench big time and if it goes to OT and beyond you now have 11 forwards, one of which has played 2 games in a half a year.

Im fine with rempe or wheeler in, we need big bodies this round. I would like to see laviolette shorten his bench later in games though.

Kakko doesnt sniff the ice during important minutes. Its the conference finals, the big guys are emptying the tank regardless. The time for managing minutes and rolling 4 lines is over.

Kinda surprised if we see line-up changes after 1 game but meh, not going to question Laviolette. I may not agree, but he has done a pretty good job so far so benefit of the doubt goes to him.

If it's Kakko that's scratched, he's gone at summer. Could've been gone anyways, but a scratch at this point pretty much assures it.

All teams do that though, Carolina was only playing 9 forwards in OT

If they are scratching Kakko for Wheels or Rempe, then they shouldve just traded his ass for Guentzal or other when they had the chance

And they lost twice
It's just an example to point out that all teams shorten their bench in OT, I don't think they specifically lost because of them shortening their bench. It's just the most recent example that all Ranger fans would've seen, you can see the same thing in pretty much any playoff OT game

At least Lavy seems to be dealing with scratches in the proper way, unlike our previous coach who had zero communication. If it's Kakko who is sitting, Lavy making sure it's not all on him either:

We don't know if they would have rolled 9 in the 2nd OT game because that ended a minute and a half in.

The desire to see Rempe out there for 4 minutes a game is something I don't understand. He better make it worth it though because if its like his g5 vs Carolina it's a total waste.

They were rusty off the jump and Florida took the crowd out of it. Rangers need to open the game up. Penalties and extra curricular's need to be initiated on our side. Rempe, Goodrow, Cuylle need to drive the net and finish checsk. Want to see Laf and Trocheck playing with more of an edge as well. Rempe's value is that he helps them do this, anything on the ice that he does is gravy. And if he takes a penalty, who cares? we can take momentum from a PK, weve had at least one shorty in the first 2 rounds.
