To go a bit deeper on the number of penalties called narrative, here's what it looks like for the Rangers so far these playoffs...

Wins...
Game 1 vs Wash - 11 penalties called. 4 Wash PP opportunities. 2 Rangers PP opportunities.
Game 2 vs Wash - 11 penalties called. 5 Wash PP opportunities. 6 Rangers PP opportunities.
Game 3 vs. Wash - 12 Penalties called. 6 Wash PP opportunities. 4 Rangers PP opportunities.
Game 4 vs. Wash - 6 Penalties called. 2 Wash PP opportunities. 4 Rangers PP opportunities.
Game 1 vs Car - 10 penalties called. 5 Car PP opportunities. 2 Rangers PP opportunities.
Game 2 vs. Car - 14 penalties called. 5 Car PP opportunities. 7 Rangers PP opportunities.
Game 3 vs. Car - 15 penalties called. 5 Car PP opportunities. 4 Rangers PP opportunities
Game 6 vs Car - 3 penalties called. 2 Car PP opportunities. 1 Ranger PP opportunity

Losses...
Game 4 vs Car - 5 penalties called. Car 2 PP opportunities. 1 Ranger PP opportunity
Game 5 vs Car - 6 penalties called. 3 Car PP opportunities. 3 Rangers PP opportunities
Game 1 vs Fla - 5 penalties called. 3 Fla PP opportunities. 2 Rangers PP opportunities

Immediate takeaways...
- Refs are *absolutely* swallowing their whistles in elimination games
- The Rangers 6-0 in the playoffs when more than 6 penalties are called
Rempe will save the game!

I would have liked to see Kakko with Chytil as his center a bit more but I guess Laviolette is not gonna allow time for that.
Bottom line is one goal on a horrible turnover by Washington is just not enough.

If they score 2 more goals this series but give up 4 is that a net positive?

Don’t care about Kakko getting scratched, but would rather Vesey be the scratch and figure out the 1.20 of PK time he’s averaging a game.

Him and Goodrow have become unplayable at five on five as the games have gotten tougher.

They spend every shift in the defensive zone with no chance of doing anything on offense at five on five.

If Rempe does play are the Refs going to allow him the late hits that they allow Florida?

Or give him the free pass on Ovi esque charging like Bennett gets?

I need to know.

Well maybe if they call Rempe, they are more likely to call the others. Could be something there with higher total penalties called w/Rempe in the lineup.

And with NYR special teams play, that could be a good trade.

Florida's gotten away with a lot of shit in the last round+g1 of last game.

Sometimes if a team collectively does something, it just doesn't get called.

See: Every Trotz team ever.

Game 1 sucked the life out of me, can’t have the same piss poor play from this team tonight. Can’t go down 2-0.

We need passion, urgency, fight, teamwork, and for f***s sake hit the other team! Let’s go out there and get this win.

Kakko got the short straw from Wennberg and Schneider's failures

Pretty wild he’s an inch away from a primary assist and a goal off the pass from Gus last game.

Kakko has been trending down in this poor four game stretch at five on five though, pretty much every forward has a better XG, outside of whatever the hell Goodrow and Vesey are doing out there.

The team was lifeless G1. So was the Garden. I don't agree with Rempe playing but he will get the blood flowing a little bit. Meh. Just win I guess.

It's hindsight now but if Kakko doesn't come out of this scratch with some positive productivity we could have had someone at the deadline who could have possibly scored a few big goals.
I mean if this is it his value isn't worth much more than an early 2nd or meh young player going forward.
