Torts didn't have the depth that AV has either though partly that was his own fault. He didn't trust kids like Kreider very much. Even so the Rangers have a guy like Diaz--not even playing who would have been a better option for the bottom pair than what he was working with the last couple years--and the Rangers 4th line against Boston last year was not good. This is a better team personnel wise. I do agree the system is better--not sitting on leads like they use to daring the other team to score. Rangers are close to a 3 goals a game clip in the playoffs and considering they went over 7 straight periods against Pittsburgh without a goal that's pretty good. Our pwp has got 10 goals in the playoffs now as well. Things are gelling in the conference finals this time--not like in 11-12 when the Rangers were going through another in a series of brutal low scoring boards battles with New Jersey.
AV is also a better X's and O's coach, he has adjusted when needed, I'm not gonna take a dump on Torts because he did some good things for this team, but in game adjustments were not his strength...the Bruins took away the Rangers breakout on the boards last season and he never adjusted.
