This Is a great game and a great community! However, one thing that makes things a bit more difficult - whether it be one learning game tactics or immersing oneself in said community - is the over-abundance of subcommunities. Between here, TBL, Reddit, Steam, and a few Discord servers, It seems like there are five or six different places to discuss the game. Is that intentional? It makes finding information more difficult than it needs to be, IMO.

As for future updates, have any GM games accounted for the important role of agents? EHM EA makes reference to agents, but I think it would be neat if agents had their own non-player profiles and a larger role in the game. Player agents could add a ton of value to the game and add an additional touch of realism, as it would be difficult to overstate their importance in today's real world NHL.
Don't believe it was ever fully coded into the game, there are placeholder staff types for media pundits as well. Forums used to be much bigger (even the contingent here are mostly old timers, you don't see younger people finding games through forums, its all Discord and Reddit.

I'd say the game has been as popular as it ever has been post the 2007 cancellation (and excluding the temporary spike in activity when EHM was released in 2015) but forum activity has massively declined. As others have said, I think this is mostly because people these days prefer Reddit and Discord rather than the traditional forums (and generally the majority of people who still post in this thread and on TBL are old-timers). If I had more free time then I'd update and expand TBL's Wiki as an information hub but alas there's always something to do on the Editor side of things, so it's still a pipe dream at the moment.

@xECK29x, thank you for everything you do to keep this game relevant and so fun to play! I truly appreciate it. If you need any help with additional updates, I have a very of experience as an amateur scout for a well reputed agency (can confirm via DM) and also have a modicum of volunteer experience for a smaller outfit that specializes in youth prospects - specifically, 05' 06' and 07' prospects in Western Canada. I'm happy to help where I can, as I'm doing this work on my own edits anyways and would love to support the great work you do! Thanks again! 😊

We are slowly getting to the 10th anniversary of EHM 1....
This game has aged like fine wine.

100% will PM you, it's been great chatting with many scouts like yourself, scouting is something I think I'm personally going to start doing here on Long Island next season.

I love how you can start a sim with the same database 5 different times and different things are going to happen everytime. The one thing I do notice happens almost everytime that I think is hilarious though is that Tampa usually wins the first 2-3 cups, and I think I shared a few months ago one sim where they won like 6 of the first 7?

In this sim though, they didn't get to keep the dominance for too long. Hedmans completely fallen off a cliff and by age 35 is not worth anywhere close to his 10.5m contract. And even still, Vas will somehow always post a .930 save percentage or higher

Holy shit speaking of new crazy things that can happen in each save,

Calgary has the first two picks of the 2026 draft, they traded Toffoli to the Islanders for a prospect and a 1st, and then Calgary and the Islanders both ended up winning the first two slots of the lottery

I've done that a couple times in my saves just out of pure luck, but never have I seen a cpu pull off something like that

I was ready to make a playoff run finally in the 2027-2028 season...and then Couturier turned 35 and immediately fell off a cliff, and suddenly I didn't have a good centre anymore

I don't think EHM will incorporate a detailed agent system as it would just clutter the simulation to have agents for like 60k players. It's already quite an heavy game if you run several leagues. It would require a lot of optimization before it could handle all the traffic.

IIRC since I last delved into FM, about 65-70% of players had agents (even with a large DB). You knock out a big chunk with players who have limited attributes (the lowly 1-5 attributed players)

I just wish the game had more resources applied to it. Even a simple dialogue discussion between teams/clubs would bring a fresh needed feel to it. The people who create the DBs and Customized Fantasy Leagues push the game into a new stratosphere, but I feel like there will be a point will the game itself will become ‘stale’, as unfortunate as that sounds..

It's been 7 years since the EHM1:EA release and the game is likely more popular than it's been. I think it's simplicity is the draw. If you start to add these more complex systems its going to make online leagues that much more complex and that drives a large chunk of the player base.

The Oilers have signed goaltender Ryan Fanti from the University of Minnesota-Duluth to a two-year contract beginning with the 2022-23 season.
Can you add this to your brilliant database, thanks?

Didn't see it listed - Coyotes switched to Atlanta Gladiators for their ECHL affiliation. Rapid City is announcing sometime this weekend, IIRC.

Dipped back into the game for a bit. That trade AI. New Jersey offered me a 2023 1st and 3rd for Shane Gostisbehere. I thought that's a bit too much to be realistic. I countered with two 2nds, and they rejected it, saying he's overpaid. I guess I insulted them.

Is Zemgale in both Optibet and Mestis?
Yes, though it needs more extensive testing. If you are a GM of Zemgale you will only be able to see the schedule for Mestis, EHM only kinda-sorta supports dual-league clubs. If Zemgele gets relegated or promoted I'm not sure how it will work. If this causes issues I'll just place them in Mestis.
