Think a 99-team NCAA might be too much?

Go for it! I've never seen a league that big but would be kinda cool...doesn't the GBU database have some crazy big leagues IIRC? I know older versions of EHM had trouble once you hit a certain amount of teams - not sure where that 'error point' is in 1.5.

Anyone knows if it's possible to have the coach manage practices, while setting new player positions?

There are times where I find defensemen, thinking they'd make great wingers, and vice versa with forwards. So, I'd put them on "learn a new position" practice, but, I like to have my coach manage practice otherwise.

Might need some ideas on what to do with a schedule, and do a traditional college schedule. I know it's labor intensive, but maybe the heat is too hot in my kitchen here.

edit: looks like the standings will only support 96 lines, so i'm gonna have to cut some out anyways

Pivot update likely tomorrow morning EST, Central Registry is really backed up with over 20 trades still to process, need to wait for CapFriendly to catch up (they get their data direct from Central Registry). TBL will be refreshed later this week.

Edit: Looks like CF caught up, posting an update shortly.

Pivot v6.10 - NHL Trade Deadline Edition posted to Steam!

General Updates:
- Latest notable transactions - including foreign player releases from KHL teams
- No changes have been made to any Russian or Ukranian leagues at this time outside of player transfers.

NHL Updates:
- Updated post trade deadline
-- Note for the players who had retention below a 750k cap hit (ex: Brassard) I gave a negative cap penalty back for the difference as I can't do a cap hit lower then 750k.
- Some player re-rates for notable performances (good or bad) this season
- Updated draft pick swaps as some were missing and others had conditions met/not met.
- Due to an AI bug I've decided to remove buyout cap hit penalties from the NHL. This will help maintain AI team health long term so they don't continue to sign/buyout players and rack up penalties. More info on this bug here: Player continuously signed and dropped immediately
-- This will also help AI GMs get out/around some really bad cap conditions that it's not capable of handling (Minnesota/Vegas)
- Signings starting in 2022-23 entered into the extra_config, please remove this section if you wish to start with a fantasy draft!

Canadian Updates:
- Added top listed 2005 and 2006 born players for 2022 QMJHL draft class from hockeyprospect.com.

Croatian Updates:
- Removed Croatian Prvenstvo Hrvatske as playable as league dissolved.
- Updated clubs, players and staff -- thanks Matee!!

Czechia Updates:
- Updated league structures for Chance and 2.liga -- thanks Matee!!

Latvian Updates:
- Updated clubs and league structure for Junioru Attistibas Hokeja liga -- thanks Matee!!

Polish Updates:
- Updated league structures for 1 and 2.liga -- thanks Matee!!

Slovenian Updates:
- Updated clubs, players, staff and league structures -- thanks Matee!!

Swedish Updates:
- Changed HockeyEttan clubs to Semi-Professional -- thanks Sebban!!
- Adjusted min full time wage to fix some remaining staff hiring issues -- thanks Knoeppel!!

United States Updates:
- Updated some of the top NCAA free agents getting NHL/AHL attention or contracts

Actually league didn't dissolve(playoffs starting next saturday), it's regular season that is "integrated" into the IHL league, which is of course way too complex for editing in the game :)

NHLX v1.3 Flash Update
- Visit the website for downloads here. Be sure to grab the Logo Pack Expansion to keep the graphics coordinated with the database updates.
Home/Downloads | Nhlx

Did a flash update to v1.3, includes the Avalanche trades, singings, transactions and some other tweaks and massages. Probably not worth starting a new game if you've already started a career in the original v1.3 (that includes the new NHL alignment and in-season Cups) but I'll periodically release flash updates when major NHL moves happen as we head towards the deadline.

- See change full log and feel free to comment on the NHLX thread at TBL:
NHLX - An EHM Database - EHM The Blue Line
OK - I have a very stupid question. I love this database, and have been playing with it a bunch. Would it be possible to change a setting somewhere to have this start in like 1926? I would love to go back with fictional names and just let it run and gather history for a long time to add a little flavor. I suppose if not I could just start a database now and let it run for 50 years or so?

No its nowhere near that simple. Also the earliest you can start a season in EHM is 1970. You could sim 20+ years to get to that state or you can try the "use randomized details" startup option, though sometimes that can cause issues with custom databases.

Hey everyone.

Haven't played EHM in a couple of years, but went to go play it today. Got this message just trying to start a new game:

anyone know what's going on there by any chance? thanks.

Edit: this is only happening when I try to use non-default rosters (TBL rosters)

Did you opt in on the Beta? The current rosters are all made for the Beta version.

How to opt-in to the beta

  • Open Steam;
  • Go to ‘Eastside Hockey Manager’ within your Steam Library;
  • Right-Click on the game and select ‘Properties’;
  • Select the ‘Beta’;
  • Via the ‘Select the beta you would like to opt into’ dropdown, select ‘public beta’;
  • This will now begin the download process for the Public Beta update;
  • Close the Properties panel by clicking the ‘X’ in the top-right hand corner and launch the game when the download has completed.

It's been a crazy last 72 hours, please let me know (kindly) if there is anything I missed or overlooked!

One thing I see for the Habs is that Joshua Roy is listed as a C but is actually playing right wing in the Q (and will likely do as well in the NHL). Also, my homer side says underrated. :D

How does one simply sim for 20 years? This would literally take many days for me, and I’m on a good enough system. Each day takes 30 seconds or so to sim.

I’m pretty sure it would take like 150 IRL days or so for me to sim 20 years in-game. lol. I did the math.

I feel like I’m missing something here!

Are you selecting all leagues? Are all your leagues on full simulation?

I have a system built for flight sim. I simmed 5 years, it took about 2.5-3 hours with full database and all leagues enhanced. I am changing a lot of things in the database though, to get it the way I like it. No OT in the regular season, completely revamped point system in the American and Canadian Championships (I think 4 pts for RW, 3 for OTW, 2 for SOW, and no loser points at all), and a few other small things.

That said, this database is absolutely awesome. I tried to set up something similar a couple years back and just got completely lost. I worked on it for hours and hours and hours and never could get it just right. Big thanks to @BKarchitect and his work in getting this going. It's tremendous.

edit: scratch that - it was 2.5-3 hours for two years sim. When I went 5 years, I basically left it when I went into the office and checked when I got home.

I find that the days do get faster to sim after a season or two for some reason. Biggest speed improvement is to quick sim some leagues, and it usually works well enough.

But I still like all leagues enhanced for some reason lol

Can anybody help me with logos? I haven't played the game in a while, and still have the old fan-made Seattle Kraken logos. I'm subscribed to the logo packs and rosters and have new rosters, but still old logos and can't seem to figure out how to make those update. Thanks.

I may steal your point system changes back into the main NHLX database for the in-season championships or at least tweak them based on that concept - kind of like the idea that the point system differs from the main NHL league to attempt to create a different style of play - something that promotes "going for the win" at all times in all the games.

So logos and facepacks will override each other and there is no logic as to what the game loads in order from the Workshop. Whatever files you put in your \Steam\steamapps\common\Eastside Hockey Manager\data\pictures\ folder will ALWAYS load though regardless of what is subscribed on the workshop. So if you have any pictures (logos, facepacks whatever) that you want to use for sure that are custom put them in those folders.

I'm on 96 teams, I'm guessing the magnitude of the schedule template (which I wasn't even done, I just wanted to see it) is too much for program to take on, because it keeps crashing on startup (gets to initializing leagues and crashes). Unless I'm missing something about it, it appears the inputs are correct.

Ideally I would like 2-1.5-1 points to stay on the same scale as current, but you cant use half points. In the in-seaon championships though it works. I thought about 3-2-1 but having 3 SOWs = 1 RW seemed pretty off to me. My only gripe is that in the regular season without any OT at all, the standings page doesnt show ties. They are there in the schedule page when the teams' records are shown though, so not a huge deal.
