Blech, I think something got corrupted in that database. Maybe the schedule wasn't the problem.

At what stage of game initialization is it crashing? If you don't select your new NCAA does it still crash?
Yes. For a few tries it did it right on the initialization box. Now it just crashes when I hit ok before it begins to load. This is after I actually cut back on the number of clubs I have in the league from 96 to 84, (edit: and then disabled the template entirely)

So, it appears the issue was not from by database, but in the other database files '.bak' and their file names? Not sure how they were changed because I don't touch them, but seems to be working now.

@BKarchitect just a quick note on NHLX, 16 year old D prospect Daniel D'Alessandro is listed in the game as "Daniel D9Alessandro"

nothing too big just thought you would like to know!

good work as always!
Haha yeah I think that was fixed in the latest update but thanks for that catch. I did a search for numbers in names to make sure I didn’t screw up any others lol!

Unrelated, but I wonder if such typos actually happen in real life when registering a baby's name. I assume that we don't write them by hand anymore (for a while?).

Thus, a new era of numbers-in-names have started

Looks like I have a fully functional 96-team NCAA with schedule template, apart from some still uncooperative dates that the game looks like they're moving around on their own despite no conflicts. At least they're moving them to Mondays, which I may just accept. It's giving me playoff shenanegans though, with teams making it in that shouldn't, but I'm gonna play with that too.

Congrats! That was an ambitious project! Just gotta iron out the kinks. That first sim where it runs through all the way and “works” is so gratifying.

Once I figure out the spreadsheet game, it's not so hard, but laborious.

edit: looks like I do have some errors that resulted in date conflicts, not sure how it happened the way I did it, but I came this far so I might as well figure it out

Is there a way to get different stages into a specific arenas? I'm speaking of the NCAA here and their single elimination conference (division) tournaments.

When I select arena rules, it lists Arena 1, Arena 2, Arena 3, etc., is there any way to define those?

Perhaps a weird question, but has anyone managed to get EHM up and running with manual controller support? E.g. using steam controller support to map sticks/pad as mouse and various buttons to space/F1/F2 etc?

Following up here, I tried setting a stage to 'nearby arena' and set all the arenas of the teams to the same nearby arena, but it is using like every arena nearby except the one I have set.

@BKarchitect or anyone really. What is the process of forcing the DB to create more players over the years from certain non-tradition countries? I've taken a few teams from my country of choice (Japan lol) and spread them out across the NHL-AHL-IHL (NHLX database) and WHL. However so far (although its only been 5 years) we have created 0 players beyond the initial database with 100 or more PA.

does "add extra players" help with this at all? or maybe putting teams in other regions? Should I add a KHL-VHL-MHL organization as well? I'd like to do a test to see if I can one day have an NHL team make playoffs with an entire Japanese organization.

There are a few factors, a big one is "Hockey Importance" for the Nation, then the nation will need to have a few junior programs with a few levels of pro/semi-pro/amateur and higher then average IIHF score.

TBL will be updated in the next 24 hours or so, will contain two DBs (default with PG players/staff, secondary without):

Change notes:

General Updates:

- Brought over changes from initial release through Pivot 6.10.1 including: contract fixes, re-rates (CA/PA/attributes), player position/type changes, other detail updates, and club/league structure fixes database-wide.

NHL Updates:

- Updated initial starting injuries and retirements

- Removed cap hit penalties for contract buyouts from Pivot to compensate for a known AI issue and help AI teams out of very tough cap situations

Known issues:

- Some players/staff who were retired in Pivot during the season may be missing in this DB or be in a weird state, if you see any issues for anyone notable let us know and we can patch them back as they should be.

-----------------

Another note, this weekend I may choose to release the final update of Pivot for the 2021-22 season. With Ben Myers off to Colorado there isn't a lot left to look out for, also with European free agency starting for some leagues keeping up with transfers will cause some confusion for me. I have a lot of work to do for the 2022-23 season with all the fallout from the Russia-Ukraine war so I'd like to get started on prepping for that. First release for 2022-23 will be the Free Agent Frenzy DB released on July 1st. As always thanks to everyone for the support and feedback and keeping this passion project going!

Trying to re-create the NCAA tournament copied from the Champions Hockey League, but it keeps telling me it can't find the teams to select even though (I believe) the settings I have are exactly the same. Ultimately I'd like it to be able to pick the division champions and then off the base list by record, but I can't get it far enough to where it even picks the teams.

Ok, here's what I'm working towards now, trying to get additional teams from a playoff stage into another playoff stage. This is still NCAA I'm working on. I see settings like 'loser continues through' on the round rules, so I'm assuming this is possible, if 2 teams play a conference/division playoff stage final and they both can move on to a re-seeded championship stage, but none of the settings I'm putting though is working. I was hoping to establish division champions via playoff with other team(s) moving on to a championship stage (or new tournament) with 2 or 3 teams from that playoff, instead of just 8 (since I have 8 divisions). The errors I'm getting in the final stage is that extra teams selection rules are not defined and that there's a team count mismatch.

Just hoping to confirm whether or not I'm at a dead end here. Kind of want to move on from it but it's getting at me.

2000ish a 2000-01 DB project by xECK29x and Flinch is now in public beta!

This is something I've been working on for a while and I'm really happy to share it publicly for beta testing!

What is this?

It's a recreation of flinch's wonderful 2000-01 DB...which unfortunately got corrupted and had to be rebuilt as he lost a bunch of data. When we were working together we decided we would build it on top of the current Pivot DB and roll things backwards, when we loaded all the players in we decided "what if we just kept the teams to today for longevity?" We also removed any preconceived notions of players, so players that ended up with injuries long term may not have them. Players who were first round busts may not bust, etc.

This is an NHL FOCUSED 2000-01 season start date with modern league setups and clubs, however all club, league, player histories have been updated and NHL organizations greatly enriched and enhanced including accurate junior assignments and paths and NCAA transfers for the first few years of the sim (thought the 2006 draft). All NHL draft classes have been updated and detailed through the 2010 class this is currently a public beta and an active project!

THIS IS A 32 NHL DB, it has an empty Seattle and Vegas roster, both with great head coaches to build around. These teams will have horrendous first 2-3 years but then get pretty good as they build through the draft, this is a good challenge to start with. We may reduce this DB down to 30 teams in the future.

This DB has been widely tested and is stable, you should be able to play with your normal league selection (I usually play with around 20-25 leagues selected).

Things to look for / known issues / things still to do:
- We may limit the PA of newgens to let the real players shine through, would like feedback here.
- Some player positions/details may be incorrect (especially for non-NHLers)
- NHL draft classes 2010+ may need some detailing but should mostly be accurate to an extent.
- Again, this is an NHL FOCUSED DATABASE, European leagues have been filled but are no where near accurate outside of well known players. This is a TBD, if you want to help we could use it!
- Lots of filler staff across the database, to be filled out with real staff whenever we can.
- Still need to add President/Directors to NHL clubs.

We have no plans right now to roll back team names or bring back dead leagues from that era, what you see is what we will maintain for now.

PLEASE PROVIDE FEEDBACK!!!
