I added first and second names for every nation by hand in the database based on some name lists I found online. It was so tedious lol. I didn’t see an import function for that on the editor. If there is and I missed it I probably wasted hours of my life.
Well if you need some more lists, let me know (dm me on HF), I don't mind sharing what I've compiled to help out!

Woah man, would love to give this a shot too! I'm working on some final additions to a GUH update as well!

If you need a name list for some of those countries, let me know, I compiled a player generator / name list for all of those non-traditional nations!

can’t wait for this update, the GUH DB is one of my favorite custom DBs

Not ready but thought I'd share an update...I've been working quite hard behind the scenes to flesh out an entirely revamped international system for the NHLX database - trying to create more interest, a more robust schedule and generally a more "football" like approach to international hockey. To that end, the following new features have been (or are being added):

- A full 72 national teams, each with at minimum a generic domestic and junior league based in each nation to use as a place for player development and holding of the more unique nationalities.

- A full rotating slate of international "friendlies" that occur over the winter break, with a revolving "random" slate of games for each nation against other nations across the globe.

- A new "Rivals" series of international competitions that each feature an 8-game series between two world power rivals. There are 9 series in total - each occurs every 4 years on different "off" Olympic years in June (so that NHL player can play). This concept is based off the original Canada-USSR Summit Series and the Summit Series is one of the feature series - which also include USA-Canada, Sweden-Finland, Czech-Slovak and others.

- A new "Regional Championships" series that occurs in February, every non-Olympic year that features all nations broken down into geographical regions to compete for regional glory and titles (except the top 9 national powers like Canada, USA, Russia, etc are placed in their own group for friendly matches - I didn't want them to overwhelm the Regional championships).

The bottom line is a LOT more international play and matches, a LOT more opportunities for players to earn national caps and earn awards and titles internationally and a chance to guide some non-traditional minnow nations to glory! And the whole database includes an entirely integrated logo package for every single team, nation and comp :)

An example of winter break friendlies for North Macedonia. Every league in the database has had it's schedule adjusted to allow for a "winter break" in late December and early January each year for worldwide international friendlies:

The upcoming Rivals series between Sweden and Finland - each series (9 in total) feature fierce international rivals in an 8-game series once every 4 years.

All Rivals Series and Regional Championships feature MVP, Top Scorer and All-Star Team Awards so players can stack up internation accolades and trophies to their resumes:

You can guide smaller nations to Regional supremacy in the Regional Championships on off-Olympic years. There are 7 Regional Titles up for grabs. Includes some custom graphics work for logos!:

It's pretty interesting to watch the intensity build as national pride is at stake against your neighbours!

mjof97V.png

And to watch players from smaller nations who might be "afterthoughts" become national heroes!

International player resumes get much more robust with more comps to be chosen for!

So many more international options! I have taken out some of the pre-existing and dated international comps...I may eventually add even more:

this is amazing, I can’t even imagine the patience and trial and error, I will be using this roster to do an EHM superstar for sure because the international component would be crazy. If you could make a u-18 or Ivan hilinka type tournament that would be amazing. You may have to set a birth date restriction but I’m not sure if that’s possible.

I think Riz once said it's hardcoded.

More things to do internationally would be real cool, I've always wanted that. Regional tournaments and the like, and more U-20's. That's something I was trying to pull off in my custom database

I consider all my stuff completely open source so when I finally release something feel free to dig into it if there is anything you want to try and mimic or modify :)

Is yours updated for this season? I'm not sure how much you and ECK or whoever else collaborate on updates. Not that I wouldn't use both, but in case I get locked into one long term save

Do those who create custom DBs, how do you ‘insert’ more variety of names for a nationality? Is it something that can be easily done through the EHM Assistant, or something through the Editor?

You can actually mass import names now straight into the DB.

I pull names mostly from Wikipedia and then import them in.

If you have some in mind you can create a player under that nationality and then delete them and the name will tie to that nation.

A) That's awesome.
B) Can't believe I wasted hours manually inputting thousands of names - should have checked first!

is this with the new editor? I’ll have to give this a try

FYI - For what it is worth - I have tried to expand the WC and WJC to extra divisions and current alignment (D3A, D3B and D4 for the WC and D1A, D1B and all lower divisions for the WJC) - I can create the extra levels and they work but the game has a hard time comprehending rankings and sorting nations past the "baked in" levels - which ends with the old single level D3 for National Teams and with just WJC and WJC-D1 for Junior teams. Even though there is actually a D2 level for juniors in the Nations data section.

In NHLX, I did revamp the WJC-D1 from 6 teams to 12 teams - so all D1A + D1B real life nations now participate (in two Groups like the WJC). It opens it up a little more to a broader range of nations (there is also still relegation from WJC-D1 to be replaced by the top non-WJC participating nation each year). (Still working on host arena sites...having some issues there as you can see)

Also - weirdly - my game is now shortening U20 National Teams to "Canada U20 U20" etc on the league info screen - even though if you click on the team or look in the database it is still just "Canada U20". Weird.

National U20 teams have the U20 appended when you use National (U20) type:

Yeah I didn’t change anything with the team naming…so not sure why it’s doing this…it just started doing it like a week ago. Not a huge deal. Just odd.

If you import through Clubs when you export it creates the U20 under short name and when you re-import it, it'll add it on. I recommend copying the National Team short names to the U20 and it should fix.

I've never put my stuff on Steam, only here and TBL but since I haven't pushed an update in like two years...eekk...you're not going to find much.

Maybe I'll put it on Steam eventually but more likely I'll start a new thread at TBL.

I didn't look hard, I just didn't see it at the top. If you haven't done an update in 2 years though I guess I should stop looking, lol

What'd they do, pass something as his off as their own?

Yeah, basically. This was a long time ago though and I also didn't know Steam very well and just was lazy. Lol.

Got the U20 bug fixed, thanks guys.

Also got arena situations fixed...if you have trouble with host situation getting set properly, I'd check the comp arena and TV rules. I had three games set for each date - with only the afternoon and evening (two slots) per arena so it freaked the game out. I changed it to start in the morning, and set three time slots for each date so now the host arena can accommodate three games per day.

I got the Rangers, Calgary and Carolina done, still have a few left but def should be done before Christmas at the absolute latest. I just have to hype myself up to plow through them. I pull a lot of info from a bunch of places when I do them so it’s time consuming.

We believe in you!!!
