His ability to create separation in different ways with his skating, whether it be forward or backward, are a unique quality.I think Pionk is a good partner for Samberg, but the Jets do better in terms of controlling play when Samberg is away from Pionk than when Pionk is away from Samberg.
Still, I think Pionk's play has improved this season. He seems faster and more physical. I wonder if he's more healthy than he's been in recent seasons.
I still don't know if you can measure past results with past players in a past system.
The eye test tells me that Samberg still has some struggles as a puck moving d-man, and that is where Pionk is a fairly reliable outlet. It's also the quickness with which they move puck d to d. If he was up there with Josh I think you'd see the same results.
The top PK is most definitely him and De Melo. They work well together.
