A bridge would bring them to unrestricted free agency.
We have the room for those two, extend them now.
I hope nobody tries to offer sheet either of them.
I meant Vilardi and Samberg may prefer to bridge - it would bring them to UFA right when the cap is projected to hit $113.5M. It's gonna be pretty tempting.
The Jets will have tons of room to match any offer sheets, so I wouldn't be too concerned. GMs don't generally poison-pill offer sheet each other.
I think the offer sheet compensations with a $95.5M cap will be about:
Up to $1,64M - No compensation
$1,64M to $2.48M - 1 x 3rd round pick
$2.48M to $4.97M - 1 x 2nd
$4.97M to $7.46M - 1 x 1st, 1 x 3rd
$7.46M to $9.94M - 1 x 1st, 1 x 2nd, 1 x 3rd
$9.94M to $12.43M - 2 x 1st, 1 x 2nd, 1 x 3rd
$12.43M+ - 4 x 1st
To really screw the Jets, another team could offer Samberg or Vilardi a 2 year, $9.93M AAV deal. If the Jets match, they're paying a lot of dough and walk those guys right to UFA. If the Jets don't match, you get Samberg or Vilardi for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd...but NHL GMs don't tend to go for that kind of cutthroat stuff.
