That's not true. No need to capitulate early if you're Larkin and have the leverage. If they were that close this would have bern done.
So just out of curiosity, who would be a good fit for Larkin if he were to somehow make it to free agency? Like a team like Winnipeg is a great fit but would he want to go there? Would he want an up and coming team like Buffalo, similar to detroit? Straight up to a contender like the Avs or god forbid, Boston?LOL Wy would Larkin sign with a Columbus team that's even worse than Detroit, Your D is in shambles outside of Werenski and Jiricek it's meh plus the Goaltending isn't great. Outside of Gaudreau and Laine and possibly Johnson and Sillinger they're not all that great as a forward core. Just hope and pray you get Connor Bedard.
If a deal can't be reached, And i still think it will. He'd definitely be great in Boston. But the only probably is coming up with $9,000,000+ to sign him plus give between $11,000,000 to $12,000,000 per for Pasta and then the dreaded $4,500,000 performance bonuses that need to be paid out to Bergeron and Krejci. So just out of curiosity, who would be a good fit for Larkin if he were to somehow make it to free agency? funny, guy typo'ed my name bern - been,That's not true. No need to capitulate early if you're Larkin and have the leverage.
Larkin is going to be a 27 year old ufa. There is no chance he would ever do less than the maximum term he could get. This is the big contract that all players strive for. You don’t do 5 years and try your luck again at age 32. Never know what can happen. Could blow out a knee or shoulder. And then see your production plummet. This is guaranteed money (2/3 of salary and all SB money).Unclear why deal not done yet.
I'm sensing 8.6 x 5
longer term 7.75 x 8
so #s suggest longer term around 8,25
8 years has already been agreed upon, it's just a matter of the AAV that fits both Yzerman and Larkin. The very latest offer to Larkin is 8 x $8,200,000 per Pierre LeBrun.Unclear why deal not done yet.

Nice to know while I didn't get it all correct, had core of it right: long term and around 8.258 years has already been agreed upon, it's just a matter of the AAV that fits both Yzerman and Larkin. The very latest offer to Larkin is 8 x $8,200,000 per Pierre LeBrun.
I think it'll come in around 8 x $8,500,000 or at least it's trending that way.Nice to know while I didn't get it all correct, had core of it right: long term and around 8.25
Speak for yourselfThr length is the easy part…..

Do you have a source on this?I think they'll settle in the middle at the Stamkos deal 8 x $8,500,000 rumor has it that they're only $300,000 away from it.
Do you have a source on this?
Stats suggest he’s actually overrated defensively. “Rock solid” is too much.some fans are under estimating larkins worth from just going by numbers . hes a rock solid 200' two way player that can rush the puck with near anybody while having huge wheels and full tilt motor north and south , while being a great leader / captain with sufficient hands and shot . every gm in nhl has called on him . hes worth 8X9
Until he decides he prefers his new team following a Cup run.If I'm Larkin, I'm telling Yzerman to trade me to Colorado/Boston/Toronto/Tampa etc for as much as you can possibly get, then I'll be ready for training camp.
Sure with what Monopoly money? Colorado couldn't even afford Horvat long term. And Larkin is going to get far more than him.Expect Colorado to be signing him.
I think if Larkin was on the market I think a team like Carolina would be one that would put some investment into him, because their window will close if and when Aho walks.Until he decides he prefers his new team following a Cup run.
He would fit well on the Bruins/Colorado.
Yzerman is going to regret playing hard ball with Larkin. Sure he’s a default #1C, more of an elite #2 on a great team… but I really don’t see them letting a hometown guy walk. Larkin should hold firm and actually ask for more for the disrespect at this point. Worst case for Larkin is he gets traded and gets to play for a championship and let the chips fall during offseason.
Considering TNT's broadcast team recently said during an intermission of the Carolina-Buffalo game that Larkin (and Meier of course) would be a good fit for Carolina, it's not just the Canes fans that think Larkin would be a good fit here. He'd be a huge, and needed improvement to our 2C.So just out of curiosity, who would be a good fit for Larkin if he were to somehow make it to free agency?
