His game is hitting and cycling. He hasn't done a lot of that this year, but he and Nolan playing that role last year down the stretch and in the postseason was huge for us... Plus, he's STILL a rookie. Give the kid a break, Sutter obviously is.
I wouldn't judge him this year. Next year, different story. A lot of players have problems in their second year so that's all this might be.
If Dwight had the mean streak his brother DJ has or even his BFF Nolan, it would really change his game...he just doesn't have it. He has the size and strength, but he comes off as a gentle giant.
He's complained about his tendons burning when he burns out. Says he's big and his achillies feel like they are going to explode after a tough shift. I don't know if that has anything to do with his lack of perceived effort.
..
King should be one of those guys...he should know that with his size he should meaner and tougher, even if it is not his personality, that he should he play like that to stay in this league.
I, as well as all of you, have seen with our own two eyes, what King is capable of. So the question that should be asked is why is he not playing that way on a regular basis?......Coaching? Heart? WTF?
Was he playing as his potential or just played over his head for a few series?
I stand by my opinion if he can't cycle the puck he's just taking up a spot spot next year
Kings is a guy who has to keep his feet moving to be effective, just like Penner.
May be another guy that needs to address his fitness level this off season.
5 goals in 20 playoffs games put him on pace for a 20 goal season. In the WHL he was a 20-30 goal player two of his 4 years and even scored 24 in the AHL. Disapointing.
