Dumba hit on Pavelski

The refs had to put someone in the box on both sides. They could have put like 6 players in.

A bad hut is not roughing, and there are like 3 other penalties that apply better if it was the hit. They reviewed, realized it was clean and put domi and Dumba in the box for their scrum and called it roughing. Domi got the 10 for skating across ice to do it.

How Dallas walked away with more PIMs after that is just ridiculous.

The result is bad but I can’t tell from that angle. Really hope pavelski is ok. Tough to see him out like that

Not really. Domi came across the ice.

Kaprizov could of got 3rd man in.

Suter punched kaprizov in the face, cutting his lip.

Lots of stuff went uncalled.

But they deemed the hit clean so it makes sense Domi got the majority of the penalty for coming cross ice.

I haven’t seen a good angle to show whether there was head contact, but initiating a hit after a guy has already released the puck is at least strike one.

In the gif above his head snaps back (body is never hit) and look and Dumba's body position when the head moves...he's almost past Pavelski already. Really looks like he clips the head to me.

He did that all on his own.

Or just look at this actions. Laughing after what just happened is a bad look no matter the reason he's doing it. Total asshole move.
Unfortunate for you theres no proven science to determine what someones thinking so, forgive me for not wanting to continue this conversation of pure opinion about a mans character

It's similar to this hit. It looks like a head hit, but it's the stick.

Only this time it was a 3rd player's stick (hartman's)

Shoulder to head like this would have been an automatic 5 gamer.
Wasn't shoulder to head. It was full body contact, with incidental contact to the head.

It's unfortunate the head is located so closely to the Torso, but nhl has been pretty consistent if you get full body it's clean.

The more I watch this the more I'm laughing at the people who claim it was a direct head hit on a big LED screen TV it becomes even more evident that the worst thing you can say is that it was a bit late and even then i've seen plenty of later hits this playoff but this one happened to be hard.

I was pumped for the playoffs.

But that non call just reminded me of the prehistoric mentality still prevailing in the NHL, even among fans, about the way head shots and concussions should be considered. Just say "playoffs hockey" and suddenly testosterone and caveman violence matter more than health, life and death.

I closed my TV right after that call. This nonsense is slowly pushing me away from hockey.

I initially called it dirty after a few more looks would call it “late”. Probably not a major penalty. Didn’t help himself though by laughing and smiling afterwards

It was late, but I don't think it was a headshot. Definitely a penalty but I dunno about 5. I'm not sure if the impact knocked Pavelski out or if it was a collateral stick.

The head snaps back before any body contact is made so the head was the first and primary point of contact. The body contact rule is supposed to cover cases where there is shoulder to chest or body to chest contact and the force of that collision propels the player into the head contact. That's not what happened here, Under the Shanahan version of DOPS this would have rightly been given a significant suspension.

Under Parros the rule was reinterpreted so that hitting the head is ok so long as you get the body afterwards, which is stupid dangerous wrt concussions. It doesn't matter if it's stupid, and dangerous it's how the NHL does it now so I don't think there will be any consequences other than players with brain injuries that is.
