March 4, 2009: Carolina reacquired Cole at the deadline. Ended up being a three way deal which ended up being a headache to complete. Edmonton was set to receive forward Patrick O'Sullivan via Carolina from the LA. Edmonton then asked who LA was receiving and were told Justin Williams and if I recall correctly they preferred Williams over O'Sullivan and tried to cut LA out of the deal. Eventually they placated Edmonton by sending a 2nd round pick.

Los Angeles: RW Justin Williams
Carolina: LW Patrick O'Sullivan, Calgary's 2009 2nd (51st overall)

Carolina: RW Erik Cole, Edmonton's 2009 5th rounder (130th overall)
Edmonton: LW Patrick O'Sullivan, Carolina'2 2009 2nd (ended up being 58th overall, Carolina almost had an identical record to Calgary but they made the ECF so the pick got bumped down)

Had no clue Mair started with Leafs, then went to LA for 2 years. Finished with a season in NJ.

Noted hugger and occasional face puncher Andrew Peters also ended up in NJ after his Sabres days.

Heinze couldn’t quite catch up to ppg pace in Buffalo, but he scored 12 in 14 games.

Gilmour travelled around in his career, but I feel like his 2 seasons with the Sabres (1 of em mostly lost to injury) are the most forgotten.

Pyatt dreamily eyed Pittsburgh, but it was not to be as he scored 4 goals with 0 assists in his 34 games for the Pens.

Eric “hat trick” Boulton finishes our trend of Devils signing former Sabres toughies for brief stints.

Although Thomas did play with the Lightning during the 1999-2000 preseason (that Ricky Martin concert was 10/22/99: Ricky Martin Setlist at Ice Palace, Tampa), I don't believe that is him.

According to this roster, that goalie is Trevor Koenig.

Edit: I think this is the same season where Andy Bezeau was traded for a washing machine.

Edit 2: The trade that involved Bezeau being traded for two used equipment dryers was voided and he was eventually traded to the Vipers... in 1997.
