Montgomery does have an impressive coaching resume though. If they fired Sullivan and asked Montgomery and he said he actually wants to be here then I'd be pretty okay with him as the choice.

I wonder if Montgomery would even want to bother with the Pens though. He might be more inclined to wait for an opening from a team with more of a chance of being good in the short term.
I'll take a coach with a "weaker" resume if it makes more sense long term. Don't really give a shit if he won a Jack Adams or how many points the Bruins piled up if he doesn't clear the bar on playing/coaching youth tbh.
Sullivan you can sit Grzelcyk tonight, but we know you will not against Utah.
People said he was limping around after last night's game. He looked like he got caught in some weird spots when blocking shots. Guy might just be scratched due to bumps and bruises tbh.

I think most coaches are going to defer to playing veterans unless Dubas makes it clear that the Pens are rebuilding so I think whether you get Montgomery or someone more unproven it's not gonna make an appreciable difference in how much the youth plays.

Dubas will be responsible for that by setting expectations for the new coach.

"My main focus is trying to do what I do every day, applying a certain process I'm comfortable with to win games."

Yeah, we know.

This is absolutely the key phrase in the article, and if Yohe was any kind of journalist, he'd push back on it. What does Sullivan mean by "comfortable"? What would happen if he decided to deviate from his process? I guess we'll never know.

I said it like a month ago but there was a quote posted from Leonsis' new autobiography from McPhee I think, basically saying he had to fire Oates because he refused to coach the team he had, he coached for the team/style he wanted.

That's not a high bar to clear, but I wish Dubas had that kinda insight.

I'd start a fire Sully chant. But I'm also planning on not buying a ticket until he is, so...
Yeah I don't blame ya mate.

Utah comes in getting shutout by Boston yesterday, hopefully they will be fired up and destroy us tomorrow!!
Utah is better coached. They had some bad injuries after a hot start. They're still missing Marino and Durzi. Also Ingram is hurt as well.

Utah should add a top 6 winger and maybe a bottom 6 C and they should be fighting for a wild card spot. Their attendance definitely dropped.

'Don't you think after 6 years of continual decay it might be time to try something you're not comfortable with?'
