That's what you took out of what I was saying? I'm saying if someone here proposed that Nino trade every Minnesota fan would have laughed at the trade idea and say something along along the lines of "you're nuts, no way, will take way more to get Nino" etc. The point is many times trades never go as expected. Just look at us sending you Nino for Clutterbuck for example.
But you fail to realize Coyle is huge need for Minnesota, whereas Nino was playing 4th line in Minnesota. Not comparable at all.

For Stone, I’d be supremely interested in him but there’s zero chance I do that kind of deal without some sort of extension or pre-contract talks done 1st.

For the Flames trade, I think it'd work if you take Andersson out and add Frolik (cap hit 4.3, but salary drops to 3 in final season). Ottawa could hang onto Frolik until the following deadline and flip him to a contending team. Would be contingent on Stone agreeding to an extension with Calgary prior to the trade at that price, though (or sign-and-trade).

Holy Jesus what kind of shit are people smoking these days. That Stone to Flames proposal is extremely Pejorative Slured. You should have some common sense before posting this. What about Stone- Monahan 1for1.

Look would I be willing to drop 2 firsts to get stone maybe. Thing is, we cannot lose Anderson, in two years both Hamonic and Brodie are ufas, meaning we may lose our two top RD. Anderson by then should be able to take one spot, leaving us able to resign the other.

Ill give you mangiapane instead, all this on the basis ofcourse that an extension was in place.

This would be brutal. Flames have no top prospect in pipeline. If you do this you are stuck with big contracts and no picks and prospects.

Thing is OP is off on the rental price but 2-1st and mangiapane would be beat for Stone extended.

If it’s a sign and trade IMO
2019 1st
2020 2nd * conditional if they make the SCF it becomes a 1st
Bennett
Kylington
Another B-level prospect or mid round pick

This is based off what Mcdonagh +JT Miller returned which in my opinion Stone is a bigger difference maker than these 2.

As for the rental price for Stone, rentals have generally gone for
1st, 2nd/ prospect and 3rd

So we would not be getting 2-1st and teams generally don’t part with their best prospect my guess is if Stone says he’s testing the market:
2019 1st round pick
Kylington
2020 2nd round pick

The 2nd instead of the 3rd round pick is assuming the market would be bigger for Stone and a bidding war would start. ie: Minnesota giving 1st and 2-2nd for Hanzal.

I would never accept that.

Were out of all bidding wars to be honest.

Treliving always has a long term goal in place and that would ruin our depth. Bennett may not have the sexiest stats but kids a huge part of this team, and including two first plus Kylington who has top 4 potential would just be ludacris.

Let the other crazy gms give you that much.

I agree.... I honestly think Stone would be a luxury for the Flames. Yes you guys have contracts coming up but not sure it’s time to mortgage the future.

I’m just saying what I believe it would take and I don’t think Flames are the ones that will pony up for him...

Personally I don’t think Stone leaves, but if he does, his junior GM, Mcrimmon would probably push hard to add him to Vegas.

No way Ceci for Coyle! MN gets the bad end of that deal. Go back to the drawing board and find another place for Ceci thats if you can convince Dorion to give up his favorite player.

Andersson and 2 1sts for a rental?

Unless it literally guaranteed the Flames winning the Cup, no one would ever do that deal.

Sens are not taking both Frolik + Neal (Cap dumps for the Flames) and would just be receiving a low 1st and a B level prospect.

I get not wanting to give up 2 x 1st's (add conditions or make one of the 1st's a 2nd instead) but you can't switch Andersson for Kylington/anything else and have that trade be worth Mark Stone. He's literally worth to Ottawa what Gaudreau is worth to Calgary.

Remove the retention on Pageau and change Spooner to Sekera then I would likely do the Oilers deal. 1st and second is a steep price to pay especially with another expansion draft coming up.

If Stone is that important to fans and the team maybe Ottawa should sign him and the fans should take out billboards asking for that instead of asking for the moon for him

am i the only one who thinks stone is massively over-rated? dudes good but 9 million a year long term good ?

i would love duchene on the jets and subtracting perrault for him would still be an upgrade. but giving up 2 1st's with that is to steep for a rental. id do 1st + perrault but hes a locker room fav and they wouldnt trade him and disrupt the locker room

You dont think we want the team to re-sign him? Lost.

Clueless like the rest of your post about billboards and what not. If he is extended he is worth more than that anyway.

He is the best defensive forward in the game. Everyone he plays with has career years. If Tavares is worth 10 he is easily worth 9.
