LeBrun: Dubois wants out of Winnipeg, will not sign a contract for next season

I'd do:

Dvorak
Hoffman
1st Florida
One of Harris/Barron
One of Beck/Roy

for PLD

Dvorak has two years left at 4,45M$ AAV. He had a difficult seasons since he's with us, but than again, everyone had it rough on the Habs in the last two years. He was solid in Arizona tho and might be able to turn it around. He'd be a "band-aid" for Winnipeg's center depth

Hoffman is in his last year at 4,5M AAV. By now, everybody knows what's the deal with him, he's pretty much a cap dump. Useful on PP, but a liability in defense. If the Jets tanks this year, they could try to flip him at the tdl. If they don't do it, Hoffman is gone at the end of the year anyway

1st Florida will either be 31th or 32th.

Harris and Barron are solid defenseman prospects. They're not stars, but both of them will end up with a job in the NHL for sure. If Winnipeg take the rebuild route, they could be nice pieces

Both Beck and Roy are incredible prospects. IMO in the depth chart, they are behind only Hutson and "maybe" Mailloux. Beck is a great two ways center. Roy is a super solid winger, and he can do the defensive plays too, à la Toffoli

This trade give cap space to Montreal, along with a solid 2nd center to play behind Suzuki, and the cap space to sign him
Winnipeg get a kick start at their own rebuild

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA hilarious.

I don't think the Dubois return will be very good. I don't think it'll be Montreal either. Boston is my pick, Colorado 2nd.
Colorado is my pick. For 1st + Newhook. Maybe less now. I am sure all GMs will be on a buyer beware mode given PLD's flakiness.

Some people aren't going to want to hear it, but a package around Dvorak for Dubois seems fairly inevitable at this point.

Dvo isn't a fit in Montreal, and the value on Dubois is at its lowest. Brisson is trying to put pressure on these clubs and the next thing to come out from him will be 'if the Habs won't trade for him, he's open to signing a long term deal elsewhere'.

I'd be very surprised if Dvorak + a cap dump isn't going the other way for a signed Dubois within the next 3 weeks, before his NT clause kicks in.

Why did Matthew Tkachuck fall all the way to #6 again?
all the way to 6th makes it sound like he wasn't highly regarded.

I suppose being 2nd fiddle to Marner in London after being 2nd fiddle to Matthews at USNDTP, when two great players play together in Juniors, there tends to be people looking around and assuming one of them must be overrated and to some extent getting carried by the other... and some residual concerns about skating. There's also just the usual knee-jerk reaction to automatically rank Wingers below Centers with Dubois getting the usual 2-way overhype.

I expect Dvo to go also but it will include Fla's 1st imo.

Stay the F away from Montreal. He is not worth giving up promising prospects in the habs pipeline for a big baby who is average and wants a trade every 2-3 years

You kind of just proved my point. It's a whole lot of meh you mention there. Meh does not mean bad, just...meh.

Take out Hutson and the Habs prospect pool is middle of the pack at best, maybe even closer to 20th-25th.

Also the future 1st from CGY is very likely to be a mid-late FLA 1st in 2025 the way the conditions are set-up.

My point is nobody is going to give up a blue chip for PLD who gets to choose his destination, it is still easy to get a deal done if they want to

Montreal will need to offer quality young players like Joshua Roy, Filip Mesar, Jordan Harris, and Florida's 1st-round pick. Not necessarily all these assets, but at least three pieces. I think Owen Beck is an untouchable.
But these players are nothing special at least that is what we are being told.

Dubois for Debrincat :naughty: :sarcasm:

Honestly it sounds kind of perfect.

OTT isn't Montreal, but it's close (physically) and he would be near family and friends. He may resign there.

As for WPG, it's hard to imagine getting a better singular piece than Debrincat back in a trade for Dubois at this point. He'll be expensive, but they're going to be dropping their older expensive core over the next couple years anyway.

It sort of reminds of the Laine and Dubois trade.
