I think most people wouldn’t pay $9M for Dubois. It’s just a starting position that will be negotiated down to something more reasonable.

As for Dach being a 2C… he better get better than a 35% faceoff win. Also, wasn’t his only career success to date was as a winger on a line with Suzuki and Caufield?

He definitely needs to improve his face-offs.

He got his season going on their wing, but was quickly moved to centering the second line and did very well. After that, the only time he was on their wing was on some PP chances.

He's a center. That's what they got him to be.

Huh. Dach still seems like quite a dud. I don’t even know what to ask for anymore with their decimated roster.

His success last year came playing wing on the powerplay with Suzuki and Caufield. He only had 18 5v5 points and his P/60 was 1.35. Jets comperables for 5v5 P/60 are Appleton (1.34) and Harkins (1.28). Habs comperables are Armia (1.35), Jack Evens (1.28) and Dvorak (1.46)
18 of his 38 points in 58 games came 5 on 5.

Watch games. Not stats. He drove play from the center position and would easily have had more points with a better compliment of wingers. It was his first season out of Chicago and a huge step in the right direction for the 22 year old.

He did "very well"" centering the second line? Do you have any stats to share to support this?

Again. His Points per 60 min played at 5v5 was 1.35 which terrible even if he didn't spend most of his season playing with Montreals best offensive players. He produced at the same pace as Armia in 5v5 play

Yes lets just ignore the facts and buy into the fanfiction Habs fans are writing about him.

I dunno. We just challenged you with the stats and this is how you retort?

Hey, everyone can spout an opinion but it seems that many of those people are incapable of backing it up. Oh well.

Unfortunately, a guy can "drive play" all day long, but if the puck doesn't end up in the net once in a while when he's on the ice, it's hard to win. After all, wins and losses are based on actual goals. This isn't figure skating where judges watch the game and decide who won afterwards

LA definitely seems like a good fit and they're in a position to offer better "immediate help" players than Montreal. If Vilardi or Byfield are made available, then I'd take them and run if I was Winnipeg.
If we completely ignore the Kings needs, he surely looks like a good fit.

We already transforming all of our center overflow to wingers.
The idea here is to build a new team around Vilardi and Byfield not removing them for something we already have.

Man i hope Montreal is getting him soon and all this nonsense will stop.

Caufield missed half the year, and Suzuki was doing well before then. Dach also missed some time and once Monahan went down spent more time centering his own line.

Hard to blame Suzuki for not lighting it up playing with Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Mike Hoffman, Rem Pitlick and Jesse Ylonen.

Suzuki and Dubois are similar calibre players imo, who play quite a different style from one another.
How many points was Suzuki on pace for when he played with Caufield and how many points did Suzuki finish with?

Barron (NHL ready RD)
Harris (NHL ready LD/RD... he can play both sides)
Mesar (former late 1st rounder and probably not NHL ready for 1 or 2 years)
NHL contract (one of Dvorak, Edmundson, or Armia)

Jets can try to get young NHL ready centers from the Helle/Scheifele trades.

If Anderson didn't have the little flaws you are talking about, he would be worth a $7M Power forward rate. Because he is not a perfect forward, fans dwell on it and lower him down to a $4M or less player. Truth is in the middle usually and it applies in this case.

Anderson is paid fairly for what he does. He's also that type you want on your roster for the playoffs. He's valued by our management and around 50% of our fan base.

He takes up $5.5million of cap space in a flat cap world, has never scored 50 points, only scored 40 once, never hit 30 goals.

He's not worth his contract no matter how you try to spin it.

There was a gap after Caufield got injured where Suzuki's numbers went down but then increased again when RHP was called up and put on his line.

Suzuki's production with Caufield (Oct - Jan 19th):
* 37 pts in 46 games (0.80/game)

Suzuki's production with RHP (Jan 26 - End of Season):
* 28 pts in 34 games (0.82/game)

we need D more than we need another C

There are two in that Dubois offer. Harris is a good 2nd pairing guy or above average bottom pairing. He's underrated to some degree. Barron's true potential is not tapped yet. Starting in the AHL last year helped him because when he started playing NHL again, his defensive play was much better. His size/skating/shot/offensive vision is very good. Hate to offer Barron but this idea is giving you NHL ready guys where we retain Beck/Panthers 1st.

What are your plans at center without Dubois and Scheifele next year?

Once again, it's not solely based on pts. There are many factors and what players are "worth" is very subjective in a growing cap to come.

Fair value to me in a growing cap is $8M - $8.5M range. If he takes under $8M for 8 years, he left a little on the table. If he demands $9M+, that is overpayment and risky.

I see numbers around the internet floating around, that Dubois' next contract would be over 8M per year? Perhaps closer to 9M?

Idk about other Habs fans, but I'm not interested in even signing that contract... let alone paying a price to acquire the rights to sign it.

I don't think anybody wants to touch $9M+. $8M - $8.5M in a growing cap is fair to me.

It's possible that Brisson/Dubois can get $9M+ if that's what they are after but in that case, they need to sign a one year RFA deal and also have a good season next year. Then he is UFA in the summer of 24 and the cap for 24/25 is surely going to be closer to $90M. Things will change with a higher cap but fans today can't see it.

That might be HFKings' idea, but it's clearly not the idea of the people who own, or the people who are in charge of, the team.

Even ignoring Byfield and Vilardi, the Kings have more interesting young players because they're further in the rebuild. Montreal is a lot of prospects and few available young players which is reportedly what they want.

I want the Jets to do a full rebuild and not re-tool. Unfortunately I can't post that into reality

No thanks

31st + Beck + Barron is a deal I'd do though
