There is no chance in hell Dubas even dreams about trading Marner. Two hometown superstars, him and JT, who will probably play together on a line for the next seven years. Match made in heaven.

I'd be.more worried about Nylander getting moved but even that is unlikely.

A bunch of the guys the Leafs drafted this year spoke how they really enjoyed getting interviewed by Dubas. Also it’s been reported that a Dubas is a huge baseball fan and pays attention to what some of their teams have done to lure players (this includes apparently making videos with cgi graphics, ect).

So looks like he can be quite the guy to have in the room for these sorts of things

Right. And his initial 1-2 hour meeting with Shanahan turned into a 9 hours session that ended with Shanny basically begging him to work here. The guy is intoxicating when he talks. An incredible salesman, clearly.

Getting Tavares is great, but the real thing that sets the Leafs apart is our front office in my opinion. I have complete faith in the direction this organization is headed. Lou was a nice mentor, but he's not the GM he once was

You simply have to read this thread I think. Nothing against him but he was portrayed as a god among men and that there was no way Dubas could follow in his footsteps. While Lamoriello did good things, he also did very questionable things and I think the push back right now is less about Lamoriello and more about Dubas being unfairly treated by quite a few... loud mouth posters.

That's not really the point. It's the progressive attitude and thinking that I like. I think most GM's are so hockey focused that they wouldn't consider a tactic like this as a way to improve. Even if the Raptors have never landed LeBron, they can still offer feedback on different situations and pitches.

Couldn't have been a better time/opportunity either. Usually it doesn't make sense so the star players don't leave their new homes. If he can't win a cup here with this foundation, then he probably isn't winning one. Literally living his dream
