I'm convinced Babcock was sabotaging this team.
If Dubas doesn't trade for Barrie, Babcock is still coach. Pretty sure Barrie/agent said play me properly or trade me and that was the final straw. Can't hate in his Barrie trade for this reason.

Finally a team , a real team our Leaf team that we can be proud of again
Skill
Toughness
Leadership
Veterans
Goaltending
Youth
Etc
Phuque I’m happy almost like the 93 era team
Love to have one scary monster D man and one more scorer ...
Oh well extremely happy
Snowflake nerds move on over the mean old dog is moving in

They would represent a very small minority. Most don’t care how he looks or speaks, they want the team to win or at least compete in the playoffs past round 1. If they do that, nobody is criticizing because nobody cares. They’d be happy the team is winning.

Most adults I’ve spoken to are skeptical someone whose never played competitive hockey understands the bones required to build a winner (he’s already conceded that he underestimated certain elements and worked this offseason to address) It’s fair to be skeptical of this, and likewise with a guy who was able to skip the line because of nepotism.

I’m all for innovation and being ahead of the curve, I’m just not sold Dubas is. I think he inherited a good program but has done little with it to this point.

Hopefully that changes this year. They’ve been gift wrapped a weak division and a trip to the final 4 of the playoffs.
Who skipped the line due to nepotism? Dubas did? Or are you talking about someone else?

I have to agree with Dubas this was the year to go for it, North Division and all. I'm not sure he is the best negotiator, in fact I'm sure he's not. But nice team we have going into the playoffs.
Yeah, the team is in rough shape because of his negotiation skills. So poor, all bad contracts on an old and overpaid club going nowhere.

Oh wait, that's the Islanders.

Here is another too weak to swallow pride and suck up a massive L on the narrative when it comes to Dubas.

dubas was doing a great job before that foligno pickup ... I was on board for every single decision over the past 3 years, even the ones that are bad on paper but he was doing it for the player (leivo, lehtonen etc.) ... the price for foligno was just insane ..... hes not an impact player and there is no way a good gm would have given a first rounder for a non impact player. he basically a 3rd line winger on a cup contender and will be there on the leafs ...

they could have just picked up laughton or huala to play 3rd line LW and it would have costed them at most a 4th round pick or something to play the same position and play with the grease we need. and then flip a first+more for the real impact winger we needed.

this trade will really be graded on how much granlund and hall get traded for. I can already sence marc bergervin getting hall for less than what the leafs paid for foligno and then not only will the habs gm make better moves but that first round matchup will be an absolute nightmare.

Hall is a scrub. This team needs grit. Halls trade return is irrelevant to what this team needs.

The final straw was his marleau usage. He gave Babs another season to prove how incompetent he truly was all while having the fan base beg for it.

the trade will be graded after the postseason is over.

yes and im pretty sure the same people said gally sucked until he was put on a contending team. Hall doesnt suck get over yourself.

if u read what i wrote, if you need grit you could have picked up Laughton or huala or X grit player. for a quarter the cost for the same 3rd line impact.
so foligno might be a little better than those guys i mentioned but guess what .......... you would still have your first rounder to trade for an impact LW player .... this is the point im trying to make. you just basically wasted a first round pick that could have been better used in a different trade. Now you shot your only bullet.

for example would you rather have foligno for a first and 2 4th rounders or
grandlund and laughton who combined i dont think will cost a first rounder.

The last 3 years have been an utter failure when it comes to what actually matters, the playoffs. If Hall went for less than Foligno its because the market was willing to pay less for him, that's it. For the Leafs I'd definitely take Foligno over Hall, Hall is a mediocre offensive winger right now the Leafs don't need that.

I like Foligno’s, playoff experience, grit and leadership. I’d take Foligno over any of the names mentioned.

Hall was needed to help get Buffalo into the playoffs with his offence. He’s done absolutely zero and Buffalo is the worse team in the NHL.

There is a reason why Hall has bounced around from team to team. I hope he does well in Boston. But I don’t want Hall anywhere close to this team.

playoff experience.. everyone is saying that ...
foligno has never shined in the playoffs. everyone remembers him for 1 good series against the leafs . who cares. the guy has like 2 non empty net goals in his last 5 or 6 playoff series. (last 4 years)..,,

this team would be alot better with grandlund and laughton. than just 1 foligno.

Me thinks that Shanny finally had enough and like god or Satan , which ever you like better ( my choice is the latter ) is making this team in his image , with the help of his awesome minions and their leader DUBAS
Dubas isn’t done without moving a single long term contract I’m thinking. He can still move a contract for picks, prospects to grab a Ufa etc for the cup run. He’s far from fired his last bullets when certain players are vulnerable to loss at the expansion draft. Thete are minimum 14 players needing protection including Hutch but 13 minimum with value. Why keep them if you can’t protect them and can still add equal quality in Ufa’s that are available etc. Still work to do looking at the roster against expansion. 4-4-1 or 7-3-1 doesn’t work as it sits now. Could be just as busy tomorrow. That said, we don’t know what deals he has with Seattle either. Drop a pick on them to take a player could already be worked out. Then we can have both Dermott and Holl back.? It’s a question mark that might be answered tomorrow too

Hall doesn’t suck but team failure follows him around like body odour. I hope he implodes the Bruins personally

Imagine if a few years back, someone told you: In a cap world, the Leafs will have $30 million tied in 3 forwards their STARS (one of which leads the league in goals). They will also acquire Tavares, Thornton, Spezza, Foligno, Simmonds, Galchenyuk, Brodie, Muzzin, Bogosian, etc.
i am so happy for us
Dubas is amazing
