Not much forward left on the market.

P Kane, VanRiemsdyk...

No more centres.

Could be a cheap plug, can play all positions up front. Been good in his last 2 playoff presences.

Something like a 4th at 50% retained.

Colorado?

I think he's worth taking a chance on.

Low risk/high reward type of player. Whose done great in playoffs in the past (granted, it's been a while). I think seeing him on a contender with low individual pressure on him, and in an environment outside of Montreal (ton of pressure here) - could do wonders for him.

I don't think the price to acquire him will be high, so really low risk if he doesn't work out.

I wonder what being traded to Colorado, and playing on a team with MacKinnon again could do for his confidence.

If the Habs get a 3rd team involved for retention I would offer Devin Shore.
But I don't see any contender taking him on. He's as one dimensional as they come and wouldn't make most teams PP

Maybe we can loan him to that KHL team in China ?
They wouldn't want him. He isn't good enough to crack their line up.

Drouin should become a weather man. He can be bad most of the time and not stand out.

Been drinking early today? I rather have Shore then Drouin at 25% of his cap hit.

I think we should see him as an asset in the Gurianov mold - he's of value to a team that wants to try him out now rather than a UFA contract.

If Columbus, SJ or Anaheim are wondering if they might want him as a 3d liner, PP specialist, on a cheap deal... why not look into dealing for him now, give him those 20 games to help make up your mind.

Clearly, this isn't going to be much in terms of value. Most likely it would be a flip of a similar situation type of player to Montreal, maybe with some characteristics that works for MTL, like a goalie who still has a season of waiver-free movement, so next season they have a goalie to call up when injuries hit, etc.

Don‘t think even at 50% he should garner any interest. He is soft, does not score, not good defensively

Neither was Dadonov. I wasn't expecting much from him either. Dadonov being soft was one of the reasons why the Knights benched him last year for a few games and also tried to trade him but it got blocked due to the NTC.

Drouin has a high cap hit like Dadonov and both are meh players IMO. But Drouin has good playoff numbers and his vision is underrated to some degree because his soft flaws are targeted and that's all fans see.

Cap space is a problem for so many playoff teams though. However, it's possible the Habs retain 50% and team sends us a expiring contract that they don't want and Drouin is a 2nd or 3rd piece added. Way too many fans think teams are only after 1 move.

And with Jeannot, we see the value a player has with a low cap. If the cost is low to acquire Drouin and they can fit him in their cap, I can see them doing it.

The thing is that Drouin at 50% is still way to expensive. Dadonov is streaky but scored 20 last year, when was the last time Drouin did that ?

Drouin is not a goal scorer but he is streaky as well. I don't think there is much difference in trade value between these two. Interesting to note that both have played 463 NHL games.

Drouin:
* 18 points with 0 goals in 36 games (0.50 pts/game)
* Career 0.58 pts/game over 463 regular season games
* Career 0.64 pts/game over 33 playoff games
* 14:01 min/game
* 8 PP points
* 2.61 Hits/60
* 1.18 Blocks/60
* 1.42 Giveaways/60
* 2.14 Takeaways/60

Dadonov:
* 18 points with 4 goals in 50 games (0.36 pts/game)
* Career 0.61 pts/game over 463 regular season games
* Career 0.25 pts/game over 4 playoff games
* 14:32 min/game
* 4 PP points
* 1.56 Hits/60
* 2.72 Blocks/60
* 2.06 Giveaways/60
* 1.23 Takeaways/60

…and to think, Marc Bergevin gave up Mikhail Sergachev for Drouin…LMFAO

There was also a condition that if Sergachev didn't play 40 games then Tampa got an additional 2nd round pick. So if Sergachev struggled a little it would have been Drouin for Sergachev and a 2nd. Lucky for Montreal he didn't.

pretty sure everyone said it was bad trade at the time.

Naaa there were a fair share of people who weren't against at all, or at least, saw the potential, and not just the french side.

I know I was 50-50, cause I loved Sergachev potential, but also thought Drouin could actually become a star forward.

But then Bergevin scrapped the team and made Drouin a center for 'reasons'.

My delusions were short-lived.

And which dimension are we talking about here? Built for po like in Tampa in 2016?
I remember when Sergachev trade was yet another robbery as he was homesick and heading for mother Russia.
edit: went back to the trade thread. First 2 comments by Habs fans from people still in here are « really good move for a win now roster » and « attaboy Bergy ». Surprised?
