Why? What advantage is there getting them done now vs any other time prior to camp starting up?

I'd rather we take our time and not rush the process of it means getting the right deals. If we start hearing about potential hold outs or animosity developing in negotiations, then I'll worry, but all I care about is having it all done before camp starts and that the team and players are still happy.

Would be a great comparable for us in negotiations

Younger, longer track record as a regular NHL player, slightly better production in his launch year and has the shine of a first round pick pedigree.

Would love to sign Bath to that deal

Comtois at 2.037 x 2
Kyrou at 2.8 x 2

Farabee at 5 x 6
Garland at 4.95 x 5

All guys similar in age with similar or better production in their launch years, sort of starting to show the upper and lower boundaries of a fair deal.

Would have to see the yearly breakdown, but that Farabee seems very generous for the player. The Flyers only buy one UFA season but somehow the AAV still comes out to 5M? Doesn't fit with the majority of the comparables.

Would absolutely hate that deal for Batherson.

Just saying these deals should be done.

key 21-22 year old players. Should be signed. I’m not saying I’m worried they WONT be signed. But they should be by now.

Yeah his production is great (streaky or otherwise). I guess I just don't see as much two-way game as i originally thought he had when he was back in Belleville. He's an awesome player with a meteoric development path, though, so I'm not knocking him.

I agree that he isn’t a prototypical strong defensive forward - but his possession skills, IQ, and strength limit the time the opposition has the puck and can score.

He needs to keep developing -

Yeah he's kind of a weird player in that guys with high IQ and possession tend to also be pretty good defensively, but he's just okay in that regard. I wish he would use his size more too. Hopefully training with Marchand helps there.

That said, we've watched this kid take his game from long-shot to wjc surprise to wjc standout to AHL all-star to NHL rising star. He's also rebranded himself from mostly a playmaker to a complete offensive player with a deadly shot in his toolkit.

Anyone who thinks they can project a ceiling or even a playing style on Drake isn't paying attention.

Also, with all the moaning about not locking down Zub long term, can we celebrate how much of a f***ing steal Batherson's 6 year deal was?

There are literally only two posts after the contract extension, but page after page of moaning about the Zub deal. This place is toxic as hell.

Probably because people started discussing him in the thread dedicated to his extension.

Lol, calm down, we all went crazy in his extension thread.

Batherson signing long-term is the best thing to happen to this team since Chabot. Tkachuk's extension is excellent but Batherson's will be a notable steal for years to come. He's got elite 35+ goal 70+ point potential.

Tkachuk may be a better all round player, but I believe the batherson deal is gonna be the better contract.

Batherson, Stutzle and Chabot are the only 3 guys on this team with any real offensive skill!

Rest are just meh! Very limited when it comes to creating any sort of offense

They are the top guys with softer hands, agreed. I would add Norris and Pinto to the list as well. Sens org have guys incubating in Belleville (Sokolov, Jarventie, Brannstrom, Lassi Thompson) that are skilled offensively, so with luck some of them will make the big team within the next few years. That's without talking about the junior/college prospects, I consider Jake the Snake Sanderson to have good offensive skillset as a potential two-way, top-pairing defenceman.

While Brady got overpaid, Batherson's deal makes up for it. 13M combined for them for the next 6 years isn't bad at all.

If we can get Norris for same range as Batherson then our top line is very manageable cap wise.
