Only player in the past 30 years to average 1,6ppg over a full season besides Gretzky, Lemieux, Jagr and McDavid. That is what you call elite company.

Oilers should be winning Presidents trophies with that kind of firepower. But it ain't happening. Not yet anyway
Winning a Cup too - at least for this year, the East is just way too strong this year IMO

But anyone can do that playing with McDavid

Not anyone can do that with McDavid. Though maybe a Kucherov or upcoming player like Jack Hughes or Connor Bedard could

But thats besides the point. Draisaitl is awesome and I love watching him play - but the criticism that hed not accomplish these same feats away from McDavid is fair and one I think commonly gets deflected as 'anyone can do that' when neither are mutually inclusive

EP is definitely turning into an elite 2-way player but you gotta admit, Vancouver media is one of the reasons their fanbase is depressed by season end every year. They spew straight nonsense out of their mouth past December (because theyve usually been eliminated already by then) till the next season starts making their fans believe the team is actually good.
They’re so good at it that even the GM/team believe them as well. And so continues the cycle of mediocrity…

The problem with these criticisms is I notice they usually come from fans of teams where Marner and Matthews, or MacKinnon and Rantanen etc. play a vast majority of their time together and they refuse to acknowledge, or conveniently ignore, that great players often play with other great players. On its surface, the hypothetical inferences are a lazy argument that often forgo any context whatsoever.

It's a little reductive for some to suggest that a player like Matthews, for instance, would replicate Drai's success on the same team as McDavid when he's a vastly inferior playmaker and PP producer. He could, but it's not the certainty that so many would have others believe. It's also unfair to expect that Drai's production would fall off a cliff on another team when his underlying metrics don't suggest that his success is dependent on McDavid.

lets see what he can do in the playoffs without the flames trying to cut him down at the ankles.

Imagine saying this publicly thinking you have a good point.

Why look this dumb so willingly? It's a f***ing horrendous take. Embarrassing.
I mean he's not wrong this season, Draisaitl was pretty pedestrian this year 5 on 5, by his standard anyways.

This season he has spent more time on his own line “much worse linemates than normal” and he fought an injury for a good portion of the season.
Still impressive with all that he was 13th in 5v5 points.

Can someone explain to me why even strength points are worth more than powerplay points?

I'd imagine the logic is because most of the game is played 5v5 and it's the harder to put up points that way than on the powerplay. That being said, points are points and there's something to be said about a guy you're scared of any time you take a penalty. Being able to consistently punish players for taking penalties is a luxury that not every team has.
