↑ That's not how markets work. Something that happened 30 years ago is not going to determine today's market
Tkachuk and Norris probably outscore Draisaitl when you combine them in their peak, but likely not by much.
Not guaranteed, never assumed they would.
That’s also not how things work. You don’t trade a 90pt player for three 35pt players and call it a win.
It’s basically two ~60pt players for a 100+pt player + cap space.
This is a landslide win for Ottawa. Even with the 1st
And... I never argued the opposite. I also didn't make this thread, this isn't my proposal.
I initially replied to a guy who said "
Tkachuk, Chabot, Sanderson, and your 1st to get the discussion going"
I said "
Tkachuk, Chabot, Sanderson + 1st doesn't get the discussion going. It closes it right away
Oilers don't have to trade Draisaitl and it's ok if they are asking a king's ransom but no team should pay anything like that."
Then the poster replied that Draisaitl outscored both Tkachuk and Norris combined so then I have TRIED to explain that both Tkachuk and Norris haven't peaked offensively, since it's a trade proposal and we're comparing a player's production in his prime vs two guys that were 21 y/o. I have also TRIED to say that there would be more than production with Tkachuk overall impact and that possible lottery pick.
The problem is people read something and get emo right away without having any idea of the context. You'd have to go back to my initial post and read it all over again to realize that I have never diminished what Draisaitl is capable of or that this deal would be fair or that Edmonton should do it. The only thing I have tried to say are the 2 points in the paragraph above. Internet/HF in a vaccum and this is hilarious
